Why does Floyd get the blame for the Cotto fight never happening?

Well to be quite honest when you proclaim yourself as the GOAT and then dont even fight the best in the division your retiring in your prime at well your gonna get criticized and fairly so! if he really was the best he would want to go after all these big fights instead of ducking them!Comment

Champions should want to fight the best. Cotto said he wanted Floyd. No, he didn't call him out by insulting him. He shouldn't have to to get a fight. Other posters are asking why he never openly challenged him. I've countered where Margs did that and it got him no where. It takes two to tango.Oh Tony sure did call Floyd out. He called him out to his face and stated on many occasions that he wanted Floyd. I would never dispute that. The difference is Cotto was in the position to actually call Floyd out and deserve the fight. Margarito realistically would come into the equation after he beat Cotto. Floyd was retired by that time. The only fight that was there before he retired was Cotto.Comment

WOW. margacheathoe? you still got the nerve to mention that name.. cool..You're the one typing in all caps, but Im the dumbass? Yeah right.
Both Cotto and Margarito have been seen as the biggest threats to Mayweather yet he has shown no desire to make either fight at 147, but has had many excuses. You cannot change that fact. You're talking about money, but I can show more than one occasion where Floyd said it wasn't about money but legacy, including the link I just provided. So grow up, turn the "caps lock" button off and learn to spell before calling anybody else dumb.
Mayweather told Brian Kenny in an ESPN interview. Asked about Cotto: "He hasnn't called me out. He doesen't want to fight. If he wants to fight me i'm here, i am m.r. HBO himself If he wants to talk to anyone talk to me."
That was after the Oscar De La Hoya fight when Mayweather was about to sign for a rematch with DLH. Too bad i don't find the video anymore on youtube. but those who saw it or if you can find it you should post it up here for Floyd haters.

The best option at the time was Cotto. Not Margarito. People would have complained at that time if Floyd fought and beat Tony. What I have been saying throughout the thread in witch most people seem to agree is that neither of them went after the other. Cotto would only say he wanted to fight Floyd when someone would ask him directly "do you want to fight Mayweather." He did as much as Floyd as far as making the fight happen. Nothing. If you blame Floyd you have to blame Cotto as well or blame neither. Margarito calling out Floyd only made sense for Margarito at that point in time. He was not considered the best at the moment and had much smaller following at the time. Tony is a bad example. I would have loved it if Cotto would have pulled some Tony tactics in calling Floyd out but Cotto is too classy for that. I would have excepted just a casual call out.Champions should want to fight the best. Cotto said he wanted Floyd. No, he didn't call him out by insulting him. He shouldn't have to to get a fight. Other posters are asking why he never openly challenged him. I've countered where Margs did that and it got him no where. It takes two to tango.Comment

Was it kind of like Floyd when Margarito ask him for a fight to his face? I could of sworn he was oing his best Porky Pig impression....badeep, badeep badeep!!What does what Margarito tried to get away with in the Mosely fight and challenging Floyd to his face have to do with one another? Beautiful spin you put on that...cool.
Funny but just posted an inteviewwith Cotto yet you've chosen to ignore that. Like I've said, fighters shouldn't have to call other fighters out to get their attention. The best should want the best.Mayweather told Brian Kenny in an ESPN interview. Asked about Cotto: "He hasnn't called me out. He doesen't want to fight. If he wants to fight me i'm here, i am m.r.
