If Mosley waits for Cotto/Clottey winner that would mean that Cotto or Clottey (Depending on who wins) get another title and a big win and when it's time to fight Mosley demands more of the $ since whoever would be a two time 147 champ? Mosley gets less in the end anyways so it's a lose/lose situation for him because we all know that Arum is not going to let Mosley get 50%.
hello grustler... nice pic u have with a HOF there...

i really dont know a great deal about boxing economics man...

all i know is, mosley is 37 and nearing his end as a boxer with great earning capability...

if u r sum1 from the outside looking in as most fans are, u would think that yes, mosley would rather wait for floyd jr, hatton or manny pacquiao than fight berto...

maybe, just maybe he is afraid of risking an "L" to berto at this stage in his career... a loss against anyone at this point in shane's career would really jeopardize the big money fights he has in mind...

he has to capitalize on his great win against margarito and fighting a not very well known berto, specially @ age 37 is not a very good option... thats how i see it grustler...

That makes a lot of sense but a fight with Floyd/Pacquiao or Hatton is not promised to him and looks like it won't happen especially since neither
fighter is looking at Mosley as an option. Them 3 guys can fight whoever
they want so why would it be Shane? If he feels that he has nothing left
or too much of a risk at his age then he should hang em up because he is
too up there in age to be sitting around waiting for these young guys to
        holla at him.

This is what's wrong with boxing. Shane Mosley was real close to fighting Andre Berto back when the Margarito fight was falling apart due to money issues. 3 months later and now Shane Mosley can't fight Berto cause he only wants big money fights. Damn joke if you ask me.

Shane isn't thinking ahead, holding two belts open more options for him. The winner of Pacquiao-Hatton won't fight him. If Manny wins, Arum has already "promised" (you can call that a bribe) him to Cotto. If Ricky wins, he isn't coming to welterweight. Fighting a less experienced and untested Berto is the best option until the Cotto-Clottey winner is determined, Mosley would probably earn around 65-70% of the total revenue, seeing that he is the "star player". Otherwise he may be forced to sit around at least until September-October, or maybe even December if Cotto-Pacquiao happens.

Mosley is a hell of a fighter.Maybe an all time great. But lets be honest.Fighting Berto would be completely different than his fight with Margarito. He would be standing in front of a young lion who is almost a younger version of himself. He actually admitted that on HBO after his fight with Mayorga.History has not been kind to older experienced fighters matched up against young fast handed skillfull opponents. For example, Ray Leonard vs Terry Norris.Leonard got destoyed that night because, what he was famous for, this young hungry lion was simply better at it at that stage of his career.Berto throws blazing fast punches from the 1st round to the 12th.No older fighter wants to deal with that. His experience would keep him from getting knocked out,but it wouldn't win him the fight.

because its not an eazy fight!.
but i agree, mosley should fight berto, and unify the division, then again against clotty/cotto winner, imagine what that would do for his legacy!!
