Well considering he had less than 20 fights, that's more than 10%. Just cuz it's not on BoxRec doesn't mean it didn't happen. Anyway, the point I was trying to make is, Khan may be able to handle punches better if he moves up in weight. If that's the case then he may be a force to be reckon with.

Yeah the right call should have been a No Contest. I don't know why MAB opted to go into the 5th. He was clearly at a disadvantage.Comment

I guess it's not shocking, I thought Barrera had this fight but meh. On another note, Freddie Roach is on a role with the upsets.Comment

While others here are guilty of underrating Khan, you definitely are guilty of OVERrating Khan. Like I said, in this fight with Marco B. he was hardly tested. With or without Roach, Khan would have still beat this version of Marco B. I wasn't one of the dumb ones here who thought Marco B. would beat Khan. I knew better.
However, Khan should stay the hell away from Juan Diaz, Ali Funeka and Juan Manuel Marquez. If he fights them it should be about 5 years from now once their skills have deteriorated. Either one of those fighters destroys Khan if they fight soon.
Amir Khan has great potential but that chin is a serious liability and although Marco B. caught him with one hard punch at the end of the fourth, that hardly qualifies as being tested.
I may come across as a hater but in truth I like Khan and I hope he goes a long way in his boxing career. I'm just not about to say that because he beat up a washed up fighter and Roach is in his corner, his glass chin problems are instantly solved and Prescott would never be able to knock him out again.
Even tonight's version of Barrera would easily have beaten the Khan of six months ago - hell, Gomez and Limond nearly beat that version of Khan. He fought very differently indeed tonight - if you can't see that, you are either a hater or ignorant.
And why you think that I said "because he beat up a washed up fighter and Roach is in his corner, his glass chin problems are instantly solved" beats me, as I have said nothing of the sort.
I have said repeatedly that he is not ready to rematch Prescott yet and that tonight's performance (not the win but the hugely improved fundamentals that he showed) proves nothing other than the fact that he has improved greatly in the last three months.
And as for your claim that his being hit with a good punch in the fourth and not being hurt proves nothing, hundreds of posters said before the fight that if Barrera managed to land a single solid punch in the fight, Khan would be knocked out - so what it proves is that those people were wrong.
I have been saying for several months, in my posts, that he would be ready to rematch Prescott in 4-5 fights' time - my saying that has absolutely nothing to do with the Barrera fight, I've been saying the same thing for months; it has to do with his having a good trainer now, and the fact that he has started to learn the fundamentals for the first time - with the emphasis on the word "started".Last edited by Dave Rado; 03-15-2009, 02:08 AM.Comment
