It's similar to what Clottey is going through now, he's a very good fighter with a solid resume against solid opposition but isn't getting his shot against the likes of Cotto, Mosley etc.
I see your point. Mosley has lost some of my respect recently, because he's always said he wants to fight all the best fighters, and is still saying that, and yet it's obvious while that used to be true of him once, he's really only interested in the biggest money fights nowadays. Clottey and Williams have both called him out recently, and he hasn't even responded to them, just a deafening silence.

Also, re. McCallum, he got in the Hall of Fame, and although he didn't get the really big fights, he still had a better career and made more money than most boxers do. It wouldn't be the end of the world for Clottey if his career ended up being similar.

Herol Graham on the other hand gave McCallum one of his toughest and closest title fights, but never made any real money or gained any real recognition. What would be really sad is if Clottey's career ended up being similar to Graham's.

It wouldn't be the end of the world for Clottey if his career ended up being similar, except without the tragedy at the end.
Well Mosley has been saying that he's willing to fight the best but the money fights come first now, he's willing to take the money fights now if it means not fighting the best, which is pretty smart considering how much he has to be paying his lawyers in the BALCO case and Jin is probably taking quite a bit of his money.

Clottey would do really well to get into the HOF but he needs to get those big fights and win those big fights before he can be considered.

I agree. My point was really that McCallum did get in the HOF, so if Clottey's career ended up being similar to McCallum's that wouldn't be so terrible. And see my edit in my last post regarding Graham. Also, I edited out that bit about the "tragedy" that you quoted me saying - I had a senior moment and was mixing him up with McLellan.

And I take your point about Mosley.

clottey seems to be a decent guy, i hope he gets the big money fights to support his people in ghana, i'll be rooting for him in his next fight. A very admirable trait he has.

I Absolutly Love Clottey as a fighter I Think He Could easily Be the Best welterweight in the division that isnt well known. He gave margarito all he could handle (without loaded Gloves) if not for his broken hand Marg would have easily Lost. i think clottey vs cotto would be a slugfest and an entertaining fight

clottey has only beat judah. he needs to make some good defences before he gets the bigger fights. the problem is top rank. they aint manging him properly.

why not fight the other guy that no one wants to fight. paul williams

They mentioned it in the article. But didn't really explain why it fell apart.

Maybe cause neither have a big following?

I'd LOVE to see it though!
