Clottey deserves the big fights but I doubt he'll get them, it's a shame, he's a very good fighter.

If he sticks around and keeps busy he'll get them eventually - Hopkins didn't get big fights until Trinidad, Wright didn't until Mosley, Calzaghe until Lacy, etc. But I do think he needs to call people out more often, and not just belt holders but contenders as well.

Or he could be like Mike McCallum who never really got his shot when he was in his prime.

Don't you count the Julian Jackson, Donald Curry and Milton McCrory fights? He was only 30 and 31 when those happened. Not a spring chicken but still pretty close to his prime, I'd have thought?

I agree with the general consensus here. Clottey is a solid fighter whose reward just isn't worth the risk with many of the top competitors. However, he shouldn't stay idle even without a big fight. There are still many competitors that would jump at a title fight that have recognizable names. A fight againt Cintron, Collazo, or even Quintana that can land on HBO or Showtime or even a PPV undercard. Keep up the work and keep fighting Clottey.

Those were big-ish fights but he never got his shot against the likes of Duran, Hearns, Hagler and Leonard. And after the Curry fight, he didn't really get a high profile fight until he fought Toney.

It's similar to what Clottey is going through now, he's a very good fighter with a solid resume against solid opposition but isn't getting his shot against the likes of Cotto, Mosley etc.

Clottey definitely deserves his big money shot.
