And I'm not arguing I know better than anyone but if you're basing knowledge on who sets the odds then you're not going to know much seeing as how they've been wrong about half the time.
im not just going on that as half of the pros and trainers and many others thought lacy would win thats all im sayin a lot of ppl did
First of all, 20 years from now their going to look at Jeff Lacy's resume and realize he didn't beat anyone worth a damn. That's a FAR cry from George Foreman who KO'ed JOE ****ING FRAZIER for Godssake.
Joe was not in a league with leonard in terms of boxing skill at MW, hagler dominated duran the only announcer who was calling that fight right was al bernstein who repeatedly stated that hagler was completely outboxing and out****ing duran after the fight the announcer asked duran if he wanted a rematch and he avoided the question like the ebola virus. Haglers change in strategy was the only thing that prevented duran from getting knocked out the plan was to outbox and out**** duran not to go for the knockout because duran is to elusive for that, you saw what happened to leonard in the first fight and davey moore when they tried to go in there and take durans head off they were dissected and taken apart, hagler knew that strategy wouldn't work so he adopted a different strategy which was not as exciting and decisive as hagler destruct destroy approach which many fans had grown accustomed to, but nevertheless just as effective and it got the job done. The hagler who fought leonard was just a shell of himself due to all the battles he had been through and his long road to the title the man didn't get his first title shot until his 49th fight that is unheard of in boxing today and would be considered a travesty, but that faded version gave leonard hell and many believe that he still won that fight, a prime hagler would have koed leonard in 7-8 rds im sure of it, and that's why leonard decided to challenge hagler only after he had noticed considerable decline in haglers skills but even that faded version of hagler would have outworked calzaghe and possibly stopped him late a a prime hagler would have punished joe without question.
I just want to react w/ ur observation/comments specifically about Leonard & Hagler nothing about Joe or vice versa...maybe it's ur right to comment in this direction but i strongly disagree w/ it & i believe u disrespect Leonard for this...i'm a Hagler, Leonard, Hearns fan in anyway i'm fair to all of them & equally respect them...how could u say Hagler is not on his prime when both of them battles each other on 1987, Leonard is 31 & his 33 & they're very strong, skillful, w/ many very hard exchanges & very exciting battle w/c shows no weaknesses in any manner...if Hagler is not on his prime, he will be knockout early for sure because of the punches he received or vice versa...i believe no excuses should be laid here, its very clear that Leonard displayed more superior skills, elusiveness, speed w/ power, etc over Hagler's power, very strong chin, aggressiveness, etc...there's no argument when it comes to talent on both sides, i really respect both of them...that's why they're greats & their reputation is very high of this great magic 4: Leonard, Hagler, Hearns & Duran because they have a round robin battle of each other during their prime....
Now your just insulting my intelligence, Roy Jones had power ? yea maybe in his prime when he took risks and his speed contributed to his power, but he couldn't even stop the mediocre Anthony Hanshaw, and a blown up Welterweight who had been inactive for a few years.
Roy Jones Jr's last stoppage win was in 2002 for crying out loud, and Jeff Lacy never layed a glove on Joe Calzaghe. If you honestly think thats any comparison to a prime Thomas Hearns who KO'ed James Shuler so badly, it looked like James Shuler was dead and had been shot with a ******* your insane.
I admit Mikkel Kessler is a decent puncher, but again nowhere near as powerful as Thomas Hearns. Mikkel Kessler couldn't stop Anthony Mundine who was stopped by Sven Ottke with one punch, which leads me to believe Mikkel Kessler doesn't hit as hard as people think. I rate his skills much higher than his power.
like i said its not all about power hatton could have KO`d mayweather had he actually hit him but fact it he didnt how do u ne hearns would have cought joe you dont so stop telling me what you cant prove because thats exactly it you dont and will never no either way so dont sit and tell me he would have killed joe cos u dont
And I'm not arguing I know better than anyone but if you're basing knowledge on who sets the odds then you're not going to know much seeing as how they've been wrong about half the time.
Hindsight is 20/20 for a reason, did you know that?
ur a funny guy u no that when you have been in boxing as long as half the ppl who backed lacy you opinion will be taken on board but until then your just like me a fan with an opinion end of story
First of all, 20 years from now their going to look at Jeff Lacy's resume and realize he didn't beat anyone worth a damn. That's a FAR cry from George Foreman who KO'ed JOE ****ING FRAZIER for Godssake.
I'm through with you, man.
y cos you no im right and your just a calzaghe hater
like i said its not all about power hatton could have KO`d mayweather had he actually hit him but fact it he didnt how do u ne hearns would have cought joe you dont so stop telling me what you cant prove because thats exactly it you dont and will never no either way so dont sit and tell me he would have killed joe cos u dont
I don't know if Thomas Hearns would of caught Joe Calzaghe ? uhh mate Joe Calzaghe is so open for right hands he got hit constantly against Robin Reid, Richie Woodhall, Bernard Hopkins, with right hands.
And who has one of the best straight right hands in the business ? Thomas Hearns and Joe Calaghe squares himself up and leaves himself wide open, when he throws those pitter-patter combinations.
I know for 100 percent he would of caught Joe Calzaghe, lastly when did i ever say he would kill Joe Calzaghe ? i said it looked like he killed James Shuler when he KO'ed him, i was making a point of how hard he hit.
