That was a great fight but one-sided.

    Benn/McClellon was a total war.

It was great because of what Benn had to survive to still be hanging with G-Man by the 10th. A victory for Benn's will, more than anything.

Gerald was the true Dark Destroyer in the ring that night...and Nigel was on the downside of his career, there to be taken. Yet he was the last man standing somehow. Pretty incredible when you think about it.

one of the worst fights i ever watched. the ref was definitely biased. benn was knocked out the ring for what seemed like an eternity and was allowed to continue...from then on it was a benn foulfest...the head clash was intentional on benn's part. the hard butt and the benn excessive rabbit punching i believe led to the permanent damage to gerald. gerald was blinking uncontrollably after the butt and fighting on instinct really but had no defense for benn's legal and illegal punches. gerald still would have won on points had he made it to the final round. no wonder why few u.s. fighters want to fight overseas that fight was garbage personified.

You're correct. The problem was that he was pushing McClellan away after Benn had got back in the ring to give him a few extra seconds. Even the UK commentator Jim Watt mentioned this.

how can u say it was all benn mclellan hit him with more than enough low blows ill admitt the reffing was **** but the heart showed by both men was fantastic after the beating they both took and anyone who knows boxing knows the rules back then were a lot more relaxed it was largely due to this fight that refs had to start stopping fights if one fighter looked in trouble or cuts were to bad again it sounds to me like another american cant stand the fact his man lost to someone not american admitted benn was dirty in the fight but so was mclellan just as much

                .
In that bout Eubank was at the end of his career and Calzaghe was still punching with authority.

The old "Flying headbutt myth" it was a dread to the eye.

As for the "long count" Benn was up at 6 and in the ring at 9.

                  Rabbit punching - yes BUT:

McClellon hitting Benn when he was down

                  Constant low blows from Gerald

Listen both men fouled not just Benn as for the ref he was picky and broke the fighters too often.

The worst thing about it (aftermath aside) was Dr ferddie`s commentry.
