Like I've stated several times already.

I understand that boxing is a tactical and strategic sport, but it is very limited in that you can only use your hands.

Please explain how this is more complex than a sport where almost anything goes ? Punching, kicking, elbowing, kneeing, takedowns, submissions...etc.

    .
Id say the best boxers are able to focus in on the skills needed to hit and not be hit and make it an art form. MMA, because it involves all aspects of fighting, lacks the highly tuned focus on any one technique. They have to be skilled in submission and punching, but arent able to dedicate their time to reach the highest levels of skill we see in the sport of boxing.

    Hope that made sense.

lol you didn't even read my post carefully... you just went into to your standard cliche / response / rant.

Did you not watch the UFC 92 card ?

All 3 main event fights ended with brutal KO's.

It baffles me on how closed minded and ignorant some of you can be.
I don't see how this goes against what I said about MMA fans knowing that a KO is better than a submission.

What are we studying for the SATs? What is with all these analogies? Both are combative sports that involve a different skill set and tactics.

The comparison between boxing and MMA is like comparing wrestling to MMA. Yes, there are similarities but they can't be thrown into the same mix.

I'm a wrestler and a huge boxing fan yet I can't stand MMA. Why... because they are all different sports.

          I understand completely.

I think thats what makes MMA so dynamic, is that you have so many different elements to the fight, and that you have to be prepared for every one of them.

Boxers are masters of their craft, while an MMA fighter must be a sort of jack of all trades.

Comparing MMA and boxing is like comparing Apples and Oranges.

Two different fruits, two different flavors.

Let it go already. If anything, MMA should be compared to the WWE in the sense that WWE isn't just wrestling, they can punch, kick, do whatever they want.

The point of this thread was to point out to boxing fans who feel threatened by the rise of MMA, that the success of this up and coming sport, is ultimately a great thing for boxing, and its fans.

This was in no way an attempt to proclaim MMA's superiority over boxing. Although I would argue that its a more complex sport overall, that is neither here nor there

Just juding from the blatent hate and total ignorance leads me to believe that in fact, yes...some boxing fans feel that their sport is being threatened by the rise of MMA.

I didn't make this thread, mind you.

And LOL @ you acting like your the Official Spokesman of all boxing fans.

If they couldn't care less about the sport, then why go out of their way to belittle something they know nothing about, in hopes of making their sport seem superior.

I couldn't care less about the sport squash, and you will never hear me speak a word on it.
