Marciano fought and beat the very best of his era. Mayweather cant even say he beat the best, in most of the divisons he fought in. Other than a solid run at 130 and 135, which wasnt ATG. Wins over Chavez, Corrales and Castillo( 1-1) are very good but not ATG.

Most boxing historians have Marciano at least top 15 all time. Mayweather wont be even top 50.
That is ridiculous in my view. I cannot see that Rocky has the reume to justify that kind of status.

Agree to disagree I guess. I think Mayweather's resume below 140 is extremely good and he was more impressive at 130 than any fighter I have ever seen at the weight. The wins over Judah, Oscar and Hatton at 140 and above are just cream on top.

Joe Calzaghe's resume is as good as Rocky Marciano's

So what does that tell you? Rocky's best wins were over old or shot fighters Louis, Charles and Walcott and he even almost lost a few of them to OLDER men. Calzaghe's win over Hopkins is better than any win on Marciano's resume

Nobody would put Calzaghe over Mayweather, so why would you put Marciano over him?

The bull**** on this forum lately is getting crazy. I bet less than 50% of the posters who voted in the poll have even SEEN Marciano

Both have poor resumes either old or fights aided by refs.

Marciano but if Floyd beats Pac/Hatton winner without a ref job then him.

            All time Calzaghe dominates Floyd.

12yr champ traveled to beat the best won without ref jobs.

            Common.

Yeah I mean it's basically the Mayweather hater brigade. I'm pretty sure if other forums saw that we think Marciano's resume is as good as Floyd's, we'd be a laughing stock if we aren't already

Marciano. He was HW champion back in the day that there only was one champ pr. division. He obviously dominated and retired undefeated with 49 wins.

Mayweather retired 39-0 and has held a string of alphabet titles before retiring in hi prime as the recognised WW champion.

Trouble for me is the retiring part. Marciano retired at 33 when no obvious challengers was around with a body spent from the rigorous training camps. Rocky was in camp 9 months a year.

Floyd retired at 30. At the peak of his powers and several deserving challengers loomed in the horizon. Of course one can say that Floyd has earned his right to do so and of course he has, but that will definetely harm his legacy.
