Not very impressive for Ottke. If we can get into small details, though (which the casual fan won't), Ottke has almost 50 losses as an amateur. Calzaghe, on the other hand, won 3 ABA titles in 3 different weights for 3 years straight. Beating Calzaghe, even as an amateur was a BIG DEAL, just as it is now. The difference between Calzaghe and Ottke is staggering.

    But anyway...
    robin reid
    byron mitchell
    charles brewer
    tocker pudwill
    david starie
    rick thornberry

those are the six fighters that they both fought , there might be others but i don't know.

reid , mitchell and brewer were some of joe's biggest wins.

obviously sven retired before he fought kessler or lacy but he fought thomas tate , glen johnson , mads larsen , anthony mundine , silvio branco who joe didn't.

aside from beating hopkins and jones......one could argue sven's resume was better than joe's.

and who's to say a prime ottke couldn't outpoint a 43 yr. old hopkins and 40 yr. old jones.

      Calzaghe fears Sven Ottke.

kosta fought 5 fights in 5 years at that time. Judah, Tackie, Mitchell, Leija, then hatton. How does that earn top p4p?? right it doesnt. extremely inactive and was 36 in fight against hatton, im hardly impressed. also hatton only success comes at 140 against not the greatest competition. 2 times he moves up he got KTFO. and lucky to get a decision against luis collazo. So no not impressed.

kostya has been on top 10 p4p list since '95 or '96.

in 2004.....kostya was #3 p4p by ring magazine.

you asked how he kept his p4p ranking even though he only fought 4 fights in 4 years before hatton.

in 2001 he fought judah. judah was #1 at 140 at the time.

in 2002 he fought tackie. tackie was ranked in the top 5 at 140.

in 2003 he fought leija. leija was ranked in the top 10 at 140.

in 2004 he fought mitchell. mitchell was #1 at 140 at the time.

kostya might have not fought a lot but he fought top ranked opponents even for tuneups.
