floyd fought in combination from 130-140. the only fight at the lower weight where he didn't through in combination was the castillo fights and that was due to the size disparity between castillo and floyd. floyd would box circles around duran at 135 anyone who watched both fighters knows this. the biased ones wilkl never acknowledge this.
Duran is on a different level to Castillo, there is only one inch difference in height. They way Floyd threw combinations and the punches Leonard hammered Duran with are very different.
I dont thin it is a certainaty Floyd would box circles around a prime Duran and anyone who disagrees is just plain biased. Thats ridiculous. Especially when it comes to boxing.
I dont think Floyd ever faced anyone as good as Duran. Yes Duran was beat by Leonard, but IMO the difference between size and styles are too big to compare Floyd to Leonard.

esteban dejesus outboxed duran in their first fight, are you saying de jesus is a greater boxer then floyd. duran was out of his element against A+ boxers he just didn't have the natural talent to keep up.
duran's toughness is his greatest attribute against a fighter like floyd, but would duran fold like he did against benitez, leoinard, hagler, hearns, and lang, or would he find a way to make floyd fight his fight. I doubt it

Im not sure about just toughness. I think at LW it was his speed and power. He didnt get hit too much coming in, and knew when to throw his shots instead of smothering his own work like Hatton does.
Duran did get outboxed by Dejesus, but he also stopped him twice.
If we're talking Duran vs Floyd at 135 then his losses to Hearns etc came many years later. Im not dismissing them, just saying prime for prime.
And if we're sayng Leonard vs Duran 2 was a blueprint for how Floyd beats him, i dont think Floyd could pull it off based on the way he is more defencivly minded than Leonard ever was.
I just dont believe it would be an easy night for either figter.

You just answered your own question. In duran 2 it was leonards mobility, defense which he initiated by being mobile and jab and spinning off the ropes, he threw hooks and uppercuts when Duran rushed in this time, in stead of trhrowing looping right hands which duran easily ducked in the 1st fight.
It was not Leonards offense but his ability to use his boxing style this time to use angles and when duran punched, he would pivot to the side and catch him from a angle in which duran would be off balance and unable to return fire, several times this happend while duran was rushing in to land punches on Leoanrd while he was on the ropes and Duran ended up being tangled in the ropes. From leonards movement and defense started his offense in this fight, and that is how Mayweather always fights.
not true, benn mcclellan, eubanks, toney, and roy were fighting at 160 from 1990-1994. duran was still active fighting tomamto cans but not once did he attempt to face michael nunn. who was considered p4p#1 at the time
You said he should've defended his middleweight title against them. Duran was only a middleweight champion in 1989.
Roy Jones actually came close to fighting a 41 year old Duran but fought former lightweight champion Vinny Pazienza instead.
Nunn was never considered p4p number 1 but he came close to it. He was 6'3, 25 years old, to me it would've spoken a lot more about him than Duran if he had faced Roberto, and not in a pleasant way.
I guess we should've demanded a 40 year old Leonard to fight Roy Jones, James Toney and Bernard Hopkins too. Instead he came back to fight 'Macho' Camacho and got stopped in 5 rounds.
Atleast Duran went the distance with Hector, even at age 50.

The machine I have a article where Duran said he would not fight Roy Jones over his dead body, if he was 21 or 41 at middleweight. He said Jones is bigger than SRL, Faster than SRL, and hits harder than SRL. Duran said he told Pazienza that fighting Jones would be like committing suicide.
Roy may have been considering it, but Duran sure was not.
Also the machine, one thing you left out is that Duran was always active, leoanrd had been away from the ring for 6 years, after he was mostly inactive for the 80's. I think you know your stuff, but please include all the important variables.
You know that being inactive for 6 years on top of being 40 allows your reflexes, ability to take a punch to simply vanish. No Camacho can not bust a g****, but if duran leonard, or anyone else had been away for 6 years straignt and most of the 8 years before that, then they would run the same risk. That was a old, not ready for any professional fighter verson of Ray Leonard.
It was a travesty that leoanrd did this to the public, and a travesty that it was signed. However, it shows just how much people thought of him to have him as the favorite
