    1. leonard- was 1-2 qon a close split decision in the first fight quit in embarrassing fashion in the rematch

    2. Hagler--lost a wide UD

    3. Benitez--lost a wide UD

    4. Hearns-- brutal ko

was 12-7 in championship fights, only amassed 12 title defenses out of 100 + fights.

at the time he was fighting he was not considered the best, so how can people now want to turn around and say he had a better career then ray and tommy when he didn't do much after beating leaonard the first time at the age of 29
Mannn watch his fights n tell me hes not.. Esp his first with leonard when he was in his prime.. Duran let himself go between fights that played a major part in y he lost.. The man is a legend and a beast, my favorite fighter of all time next to ali, his energy was just crazy.. Please watch all his fights and then post this.. And didnt do much.. Iran barkley! That was just ridiculas 1 of the bigest upsets of all time.

          • Roberto Duran was an All Time Great fighter without a doubt but top 10? I'm not shure... On one hand if you don't have Duran in the top 10 who are you gonna replace him with? I can't think of any... but on the other hand he did came up short in most of his big fights and his resume while it is very good I'm not shure its good enough to be top 10... Esteban De Jesus(x2), Ken Buchanan, Sugar Ray Leonard and Iran Barkley... like I said it is good but is this really good enough for a supposed top 10 of all time?

I think you're missing just a few there mate. Apart from De Jesus, Buchanan (HOFer), Leonard (HOFer) and Barkley, he also had, and each and every one of these guys was a champion, Palomino (HOFer), Cuevas (HOFer), Ernesto Marcel (nominated for the HOF this year), Kobayashi, Mamby, Castro, Moore, Ishimatsu, etc along with the many number one contenders that in today's title climate would all be titlists too of some sort.

Yeah I know but I just listed what was in my oppinion his best wins.... I'm not saying his resume is bad infact I think it's a great one but as I said is it really good enough to be top 10? I'm not saying Duran is not a top 10 of all time but I mean it's not like he is a lock for the top 10 list either. He is def top 15, Id have him somewhere between 15 and 8 on the all time lists but hey I'm not a boxing expert historian.

                    • Duran's resume is filled with quality, but unknown fighters to today's casual fans. He beat a lot of solid light welterweight contenders in between title defenses as a lightweight. Take Emiliano Villa for instance. Also throw in wins over a guy who should be a HOFer in Ernesto Marcel, and wins against Jorge Fernando Castro, Saoul Mamby, Guts Ishimatsu, Hiroshi Kobayashi, Hector Thompson, and Ray Lampkin to go along with his more famous conquests....Duran is a top 10 ATG all things considered (resume, ability, longevity, accomplishments).
