knowing my taste in type of fighters.....i probably am harsher on floyd than pac.
as for the morales loss......it's morales. it was a clear loss but a close one. doesn't take anything away from pac for me. remember going into that fight with manny , morales was ranked as the #2 130 fighter in the world , only behind marco who took his wbc 130 belt. pacquiao was the underdog in that fight. it was his first fight at 130. i expected him to lose to morales. at the time i didn't think he could beat erik.
as far as the 130 reign of floyd. it was an excellent reign. he beat genaro , chavez , manfredy and corrales. corrales was a great win and the rest were very good wins. but when people talk about 130 they make it seem like he cleaned out the division. they also claim he was the lineal champion. he didn't and wasn't. to be fair he should have had the ibf belt to go along with his wbc belt when he beat corrales but the fact is he didn't unify the belts. floyd was champ at 130 from 1998-2002. casamayor , freitas and forbes also had belts. freitas was in the top 10 130 since 1999. all 3 were top 5 at 130 since 2000. in fact casamayor and freitas was #2 and #3 behind #1 floyd in 2001.
it's easy to look back and say now that his accomplishments at 126 and 130 was not that great. but remember pacquiao was a 122 fighter. he was a huge underdog to barrera the first time they met. he was the underdog to morales the 1st 2 fights and the odds were even for the 1st marquez fight.
