what haters will never understand is that floyd takes the "biggest" fights....not only will manny be a bigger money fight than cotto or margarito, fighting the p4p king i think does a lil more for floyd's legacy than beating 2 guys we have all seen beaten recently, and have yet to avenge those losses....who cares if pbf whoops cotto? margarito just did....who cares if pbf schools margarito? paul williams just did....the thing with haters is that they'll hate no matter who he fights. he wins and it'll be "well you didn't beat this guy....." smh

manny is a fast-fighter. floyd is better defensively, stronger, and just as fast, if not faster. the speed thing floyd has already seen from zab judah, who also hits harder than manny. manny has never faced anyone like floyd. throwing 5-6 punch combos won't mean much when you can only land 1 at a time, and even that won't be a clean one.

ok, your a ****in idiot........both fight mayweather won with relative ease. all he could handle? was mayweather in trouble in either one of those fights? i kno the dlh fight ended in a split decision, but even max kellerman, after the fight said he could have given dlh 4, ormaybe even five rounds, but for any judge to have given him 7 rounds was ridiculous......

no. not really. when mayweather fought him, dlh stocked the deck in his favor- from the weight to the gloves, and even the ring size. in the pacman fight, pac called all the shots. except for the money....oscar fighured he'd beat pac easily, so he let him stack the deck. i know ppl say "oscar made weight weeks ago...." but that seems like a problem to me. oscar hadn't been as low as 147 for seven years or so, and to make it to 145 (and keep the weight off) three weeks before the fight, then only to rehydrate 2 lbs before the fight explains a lot. oscar is just not the type of man to say "making the weight killed me..." but you watch the fight, you could see he wasn't right....i give manny all the credit in the world, but mayweather annihalates the version of dlh that fought last week too....

Pacquiao's margin of a victory is a result of his style, not proof that he's better than Floyd. In fact, fighting like that against Floyd may prove to be a detriment to him. Pacquiao struggles against boxers (Marquez, Morales). Floyd would be the best boxer he's faced and perhaps the strongest.
floyd beat oscar with no problems at all......looking at how one fighter fights a common opponent and trying to gauge how he'll do against the other guy never works....all you can do is look at strengths and weaknesses of each fighter to compare. running out of stamina is a detriment when fighting against pacman, and that's a problem floyd has never had.....floyd will control the pace, he's a natural counter-puncher....he'll weight for manny to drop his hands and pick him apart all night

Oscar made a huge mistake by trying to downsize too much to face Pac. The worst that Roy looked was when he came down in weight. Ditto Chris Byrd.

Oscar should have been 160 on fight night. I watched the fight again last night. He looked weak, and his muscle tone was not good. Even Manny Steward was commenting on how weak Oscar looked.
not gonna blame the weight totally...i'd be called a hater, plus its oscar's fault anyway for agreeing to such terms....but its ridiculous for anybody to say the weight "had absolutely no effect at all..." remember about a week before the fight, when roach or somebody said pacman looks great in training, but he saw dlh running with a huge sweatsuit or something on, and he didn't look good..." at the time we all thought roach was bull****tin, but looking back on it.....but ppl tend to forget **** like that........

also, there was a stipulation in the contract that said dlh had to weigh in at 147 the night of the fight too.....for every pound he was over the limit, he had to pac pacman more money, so greed was dlh downfall too. then, i also wouldn't discount pride coming into effect here also. dlh probably didn't want to come into the fight weighing " a helluva lot more" than pac, cuz he'd rally look like a bully then. this asswhooping was a result of pride, greed, and overconfidence..........oh yea, and manny's fists too

    1) will FMJ be the fastest fighter he has faced?

    2) will FMJ be the most accurate puncher he has faced?

    3) will FMJ be the best defender he has faced?

    4) will FMJ be the smartest fighter he has faced?

    5) will FMJ hit him harder than he has been hit before?
    YES

about styles....absolutely right. thing is, everyone calling for mayeather's destruction at the hands of pacman don't understand.......

mayweather brings a style similar to hopkins in the sense you will NEVER see these guys "beat up or beat down" in a fight. call it what you want, but they have the type of style where they will be in every fight, to the end, and if they lose, it will be the result of inactivity and/or being tired...in a sense, they'll get outhussled, as we saw in hopkins-calzaghe......

pbf is not at the point in his career where he gets tired, or gets outhussled. he still gets off, and is easily the most accurate puncher in the game. IF manny wins, and i'm saying IF, it'll look like calzaghe-hopkins......

but floyds a far ways from that point in his career. he gets openings, he still well able to exploit them, at anytime. he knocks pacman down a few times....en route to roach stopping the fight late 8 to mid 9.....

i got all my points on floyd, this fight goes down.......

        • This would be the major boxing event of 2009 if it happens, I really hope it does.

I'm a huge fan of Pacman and with Freddie Roach in his corner he has turned into a boxing machine, moving through the weights and making history.

I'm not sure who I'd favour in this fight. Pacquiao's speed and relentless pressure/heart against the ultimate defence and accurate punching of Mayweather.

It will be a fascinating contrast of styles. Make it happen!!!

          • PacMan is no idiot! He knows that sooner or later to be the man you have to beat the man, and whether we like it or not Pretty Boy Floyd is that indeed "THE MAN"! For the fight to get a bigger hype Pac-MAn in my eye will have to fight Hatton to prove that he can do the same thing PBF did. Then after Pac KO's HAtton, and trust me we will; PBF V.S Pac, will be a fight that will be in the lights like the THRILLA IN MANILA, LEONARD/HEARNS, ALI/FRAZIER, GATTI/WARD, ETC. I will make my paick and take PBF by Decision, however like I said before if PAC gets caught like JMM caught him, with PBF Power PAC will hit the deck with the 10 count!

To me, Mayweather needs this fight just as much as Pacquiao does.

Mayweather has achieved a lot in this sport as far as belts are concerned, but he doesn't have that one win that people respect. Those opportunities presented themselves with Margarito, but realistically, Margarito is too big for him; it'd be a size mismatch.

Pacquiao is essentially the same size as him and has the respect of the people. Baldomir was an iffy win with the public, so too was the de la Hoya fight and few on this side of the Ocean had high regards for Hatton.

If Mayweather could beat Pacquiao, people would have to respect that. I just wonder if he has it anymore. He hasn't been in the gym or even considering boxing. I wonder if his reflexes and hunger are there to hang with Pacquiao for 12 rounds.

For a great fighter, Mayweather does not have that signature win that defines him.

Wouldn't you say Pacquiao's performance against de la Hoya was more impressive?

                • It aint hard.

If Pacman wins he gets his match with Floyd = even more $$$ and beaten a Prime-ish Hatton...

If Ricky wins then he gets his rematch he always wanted with Floyd.

                  Simple A B C

                  • i will tell you, if mayweather returns to do this fight, this would be a really interesting fight to watch. Pacquiao is a fast paced boxer, so lets see how mayweather can deal with that. I am not a fan from this two, but I will definitedly watch this one.......
