Tito: Judges. I had him winning despite the running in the last leg of the fight.

True, he should have kept his ass in 5th gear, but he listened to his corner to put it in neutral. Maybe he listens to his trainers to damn much. Either way, by "points," I thought he should have won.

Shane: EPO/Balco Shane out-hustled him in their fight. There is debate on the other if Oscar should have gotten the victory. So that might go with Judges.

Hopkins: It's was BERNARD HOPKINS. Considering Oscar started as a lightweight...fighting a BIG Middleweight, is not a smart move. He was out-boxing him for a good portion of the fight though...shame he forgot how small his frame was against a Middle like Hopkins and how powerful a body shot can be from fighters like that. Down went Oscar.

He beat Vargas: kind of a big fight.

He beat Old Chavez: not a prime vs. prime fight but it was a big fight.

Actually, given Oscar's star power, every fight he was in was really a big fight to some degree.

What about Oba Carr; he was pretty good...no?

    Ike Quartey?

    Miguel Angel Gonzalez?

    Maybe not Mega Fights, but...

HE WON A GOLD MEDAL. That's a big fight.

His entire dream team was a mess. This is what happens when you surround yourself with people who just don't know **** about the mechanics of the person they are dealing with.

These hired gun trainers/teams might work for some, but for the most part, they can introduce problems.

Oscar should also know his own limits. He deserves the blame for letting it all happen.
Bingo! it took 4 pages for someone to say this

if anyone is to blame other than Oscar or Manny for submitting the beatdown it's Oscar's nutrionist Rob Garcia. He is the one who has to monitor what Oscar intakes, what he needs to do to target his weight properly, whatever exercises he thinks will keep him in optimal shape. Remember it was Rob in there with Oscar doing the sprints doing the calesthenics giving him wheat germ sea kelp and spinach balls not Nacho. Nacho was there as the gameplan specialist not to make sure Oscar makes weight.

I mean **** if its true that Oscar was 147.9 weeks before the fight what does that say about what Rob was doing to Oscar's body?

also from what Valero told a few of us Oscar didn't do much actual boxing training only when the cameras were on and thats why the two best sparrers he had were kicked out early. He said he had never seen someone train so lightly for a fight other than losing weight.

I agree, overtraining contributed more to DLH's loss than did Pac's abilities. That said, I hope DLH will just go away now. Let's see some real "dream" fights in '09.

That is an incomplete assessment, with all due respect.

Nacho is the one MOST qualified to look at Oscar's sparring in the final two weeks and to gauge whether that is a sharp fighter or a spent fighter. Rob Garcia can monitor the food, weights, windsprints, etc. But he doesn't have a world-class eye for boxing.

In the final weeks before the biggest fight of his life, Hatton looked very sharp. He also seemed genuinely hungry to beat Mayweather. Did you ever really buy into that crap Oscar was spewing about him making Manny pay for signing with Arum? It seemed like fabricated anger.

I really don't think Oscar is shot. He could have overtrained or been weight drained, people are putting him with Roy and Tito already. I think he has a few good fights left if he wants them. He should probably retire though, nothing left to prove. Not taking anything away from Manny though, he was great.

he'll be back for at least one more fight. he thought if he came in and stayed at 147 people would think he was a true welter and it backfired on him. i wouldnt blame anyone but him. he has been boxing all his life and knows his body better than anyone, thing is he didnt expect manny to be that strong.

but at the same time it is also Garcia's assesment as to whether Oscar is even healthy in doing whathe does best, bringing Oscar down in weight and yet maintaining a healthy fighter. While he did briefly train Bojado, Garcia is not a trainer you are right. However, he has been Oscar's nutrionist since I think the Mayorga fight so he does know what Oscar's body is capable of.

and again it was Valero who told me there wasn't much boxing training going on to begin with that it was largely staged for the cameras. He said that sparring was a joke, training wasn't much and that it was all geared towards keeping Oscar at or near weight. Nacho was there to gameplan and its not like he has trained bad fighters before or fighters who didn't have it yet still went to the ring with them. Nacho deserves no blame for this in fact he probably saved Oscar a few more rounds of beatdown by continuing to ask if he wanted to continue

and I dont buy into anything so I dont see what that has to do with this conversation.
