I said it once and I'll say it again, Americans are spoiled and have gone soft.

Eastern Europe produces stronger, superior heavyweights

    That's the bottom line.

There's a lot more to it than just going pro. There's scholarships, peer pressure, lack of boxing gyms, lack of a solid amatuer system, etc.

It's not why Americans arent the better heavyweights anymore. It's why Americans suck period. You can watch the best American heavyweights, and tell they are no good. You can also tell they are the worst they've been maybe ever. I dont expect it to get any better either.

You can believe whatever you want to believe. I'm sure if someone took the time to do a study the results would be overwhelmingly in favor of what we've ben saying.

The problem is no one cares enough to do the stufy. American boxing is close enough to being dead.

I bet the number of boxing gyms in the U.S. is down 70% from what it was 25 years ago.

i agree i supose you could say how bad was the division before Mike Tyson brought it back to life in the mid 80's

i think America on the whole have some good fighters coming through the ranks the olympic scoring was rubbish so i would not take too much notice of USA medal haul,Raushee Warren ,Luis Yanez are two of the best amateurs ive seen and niether of them got very far but i bet they both make a bigger splash than any of the Brits i saw

                Peterson Bros,Dirrell,Ward,Berto,Kirkland,Quillin

First of all to the people who are saying "basketball and football skills dont crossover into boxing" you guys are dumb im not even gonna try and go any further into it.

Then to the people saying American culture is getting soft... murder rates are through the roof, i live in philly and if i walked down some streets at night im almost definetly gonna get jumped and theres a possibility that i would get shot. Now im not trying to say our city is tougher than your city or anything
like that, but american culture or at least where the boxers would come from are definetly not getting soft. You gotta remember the places where we get our boxers from is different from what the average american life is like.

And about the whole "everyone else just caught up" although some fighters from other countries may have gotten better, that doesnt mean the whole country is better at boxing.

I made this thread because so many people were callin americans ******* and ****. I will quote myself from earlier:

I dont really care if you guys think im just making excuses cause it may be an excuse to you but really its just my opinion.

i actually do believe gifted individuals are capable of adapting to different Sports whether it be Baseball,American Football etc some people have skills that are conducive to succeeding in most sports and with hard work dedication they can usually succeed some people are born with great hand eye corordination, balance, strong mentallity etc etc

as with ALL sports it does not matter where you come from its the set up you have in place the system in place to recruit talent the facilities you can provide and the money you put in to the sport and the right training methods etc
