And after taxes/expenses? Did u really think Margarito is going to get to keep the entire 2.5 mil without paying his dues to uncle sam, and other expenses? LOL.

Because as it stands, Marg/Cotto/Williams are the top 3 WW's. Marg lost to Williams, while Cotto lost to Marg. Therefore Marg would have to redeeem himself against Williams, and Cotto would have to redeem himself against Marg. If Margarito rematches and beats Williams, then Margarito would have the title as #1 ww. Williams lost to a fighter that Cotto demolished (Quintana), therefore i have Cotto ahead of Williams in the WW standings. So winner of Marg/Williams would have to fight Cotto for the title of #1 WW. If Williams were to beat Margarito, then i say Cotto would have to beat Margarito first, then go after Williams for title of #1 WW.

I've seen a few diehard Margarito fans try and defend this decision, and i just dont see how you can. I like both Marg and Williams, and would love to see a rematch to show who's the true 147lb champ.

I dont even think Arum would pay Margarito that much money ($4mil) to rematch Cotto.
I'm as diehard Margarito fan as it gets and although I am not extremely happy about his decision to fight Mosley I think this fight will be an exciting match up and another good name on my boy's resume. Having said that...I think it was a ***** move that a Williams rematch was never made. That whole Gossen $4Mil offer was as fake as a $15 bill so don't even bring that **** up, however I think Margarito and his team could of made a better attempt to find numbers to satisfy Tony and make this fight happen. A Williams-Margarito II fight means so much to boxing or at least to the Welter division than any other fight out there.

So I can't hold my boy responsible for taking the fight with Mosley and a guaranteed $2+Mill paycheck and more than likely Cotto rematch that would earn him another nice paycheck after all the scraps he's been fed throughout his career, what I see here is a blue-collar fighter who is deservingly getting his share of the pie.

Marg had a belt when he lost to Pwill, but at that point PBF was the champ and Cotto was ranked #1. The lineal WW title retired wit PBF, but Cotto remained ranked #1 til Marg KO'd him. So Marg is #1 right now. Some might call Cotto #2 since he just lost the top spot, but I'd put Pwill ahead of him since he beat Marg last year and Cotto got destroyed. Pwill should have 1st dibs on a Marg rematch, not Cotto. But as long as Marg-Pwill 2 happens in late '09, it's cool wit me.

Dont get me wrong. I feel Margarito/Mosley is a good fight, but i dont think it would benefit Marg or us fans more than a rematch with Williams.

As for the $4mil offer, how are u so certain that it was a bogus offer? William's promoter has went on record several times to say that the offer is legit. There have even been transcripts of the offer posted here on the forums. So what proof do u guys have to prove that the offer WASNT legit?

Both parties denied everything so who are we to say who is telling the truth and who is not? my friend all we can do is assume and make outlandish claims as to what really happened between both parties. We all know this fight needs to be made and should of been made before anything else, but boxing is a business therefore it is what it is. And another point I want to make here is that Margarito to my knowledge has been fighting top 10 contender after top 10 contenders for the past what? 4 years? the only tune-up that comes to mind was the Golden Schlong, but other than that my boy has been fighting top competition. Even though Mosley is old and not prime, he's still a solid fighter who gave undefeated Cotto a run for his money, don't forget that.

                Peace.

Cotto was on the wrong end of a beatdown in his last fight, you expect to fight a top WW so soon?

Marg went from fighting Cintron to Cotto to now Mosley and Cotto again.

Yet you fanboys still give him ****! Just admit you're all haters.

Cotto fought an easier than **** tune up in Gomez after beating Mosley, on the other hand Margarito is fighting Mosley after murdering Cotto, I still wouldn't consider washed up Mosley a tuneup.
