Who defends Marg's decision to fight Mosley instead of Williams?

yeah, thats how i feel......... where did this 4 million come up, i remember kellermen saying that there was more money to fight williams but that was not made known, if at all true. i think it's a way to try and pit margarito into whatever match up hbo wants to see.

i don't think that there is anything wrong with margarito fighting mosley, it's a tough fight, and it's something to build on too. it's fair to both fighters and would be entertaining to say the least.

it's not like williams and margarito aren't going to fight, it's only a matter of time, they are destine to have a rematch or two, who knows.....??

Well top rank claims they never recieved that $4 Million claim in writing that it was only an internet offer. Aside from that the offer was not Margarito's purse for the fight, rather it was a payment for Margarito AND Top Rank for his services for the fight. It is clearly stated in the press release, which seems to be as official as the offer ever got.

All that being said, I think Tony is doing the right thing and if he beats Mosley and Cotto a big money show down with Williams is on the horizon, and it will be on his and Arum's terms, not the way Goosen wants to do it.

But on Tuesday, Goossen provided to Yahoo! Sports a copy of a July 31 letter he sent to Top Rank chairman Bob Arum in which he offered Margarito "a minimum guaranteed (sic) of $4 million against 50 percent of net revenues to Top Rank/Margarito."

Arum responded in a letter on Aug. 5 rejecting the offer.

Arum wrote: "Thank you for your letter of July 31, 2008 regarding Paul Williams.

"After the terrible experience I was subjected to by Paul Williams, his camp and advisor in connection with a (Kelly) Pavlik fight, I have absolutely no intention whatsoever to be involved in any fight with Mr. Williams.

"Accordingly, your proposal is in all respects rejected and I would request that you do no contact me again regarding Mr. Williams."

Im just curious to know how fighting Mosley for $2mil makes more sense from both a monetary standpoint and a legacy standpoint, rather than rematching Williams for $4mil and a chance to redeem himself.

I've seen a few diehard Margarito fans try and defend this decision, and i just dont see how you can. I like both Marg and Williams, and would love to see a rematch to show who's the true 147lb champ.

I dont even think Arum would pay Margarito that much money ($4mil) to rematch Cotto.
