Trinidad can make 154 if he wanted to, he is just a lazy SOB this days. WTF with that?

But he's there, he's there because Top Rank knows it's good exposure for him and JuanMa knows this also.

I personally don't think Pacman vs. Oscar is a bad fight for the sport. I would rather he fought someone else, but I don't think it's bad for boxing. Boxing is in need of more fans, and Oscar brings casual fans to the table. Those fans may decide to stick around for other fighters. I look at it like the Nintendo Wii. The so called "hardcore gamers" hate the system, but it's selling like crazy meaning it's bringing in new people who previously didn't game. It's making video games more accessible, more mainstream. That helps out the video game industry.
Same thing for boxing. If this fight can create interest and bring in people that don't care much for the sport, then it helps out boxing.
How many new fans did DLH Mayweather bring in by your estimation?

Both Trinidad and DLH should retire they are just hurting the sport with their circus.

if trinidad could get his weight down i think it would be a great rematch, key word, IF. tito is way to big these days, i bet he walks around at 190-200lbs. i really wanted to see dlh vs margs. but oscar found every excuse in the book to back out of that one. i dont think pac has to much of a chance against dlh but im hoping that he wins and dlh calls it a day, i for one was never a dlh fan, i though he lost to ike and almost threw a party when b hop dropped his ass with that liver shot

Agreed. Both should hang it up.

I'm not sure, but Mayweather did have a succesful PPV event after Oscar, maybe some were from the Mayweather vs. Oscar fight. There is no way of knowing of course. I guess my point is, something that brings boxing to the mainstream helps more than it hurts. Sort of like that saying "there is no such thing as bad publicity". At least people are talking about the fight.

But what good does that publicity do if people are turned away from the sport?

Mayweather-Hatton did less than half of the DLH fight, meaning, people weren't impressed by the big talk and no show.

It did do half the business, but it still ended up being #2 for the year if I'm not mistaken, and close to 900,000 sells which is still a very very good PPV sell. Had he not fought Oscar maybe it's even less? I don't know. I see your point, though but I'm a glass half full type of guy, I like to think fans stick around, even if it's just 1.

To be honest, the broken record I heard after the Mayweather DLH fight was, "I'm never going to pay to see that guy fight".

To be fair, I'm sure there are fans who do become intrigued and engage the sport a bit more. But the promoters need to know which fights to really hype up and which ones will get far just by name alone.

Imagine what first timers would have thought watching Castillo Corrales or Vazquez Marquez as their first fights?
