I'm not trying to make FLoyd's resume out to be better than it is. Sure he could be accused of cherry-picking at various points throughout his career, but on the whole I think he fought a better list of opposition.

The Kessler win is Joe's best IMO. He was a prime, elite fighter. Whilst I think the Hopkins win is a good one, there is no getting away from the fact that it was an old Hopkins. Yes, Hopkins turning around and schooling Pavlik does add to Joe's win, but it still has that big qualification. The Jones and Lacy wins are pretty ordinary ones IMO. Lacy was never anything special and Roy was totally shot when Joe got to him.

You talk a lot about "cherry-picking" and circumstances, which is fine, but thats not what you take into account when you talk resumes. Its who did they beat and when did they beat them?

Based on that question, it is pretty clear in my view that Mayweather beat the higher quality of opposition when, collectively they were closer to their best.

What I call it is..........objective logic. For you to place Floyd in the GOAT arena, then you must place Calzaghe in the GOAT arena.............if you are intellectually honest. There are no other considerations.

I don't see it. I see Floyd fighting 5 bums when he made the jump to 140. I see Floyd dodging Tszyu who owned that division. Then I see Floyd beat DeLaHoya...his best win, although ODH was past his prime. Then another line of mediocrities. I see Floyd dodging Margarito and then Cotto before retirement. I see many opportunities to become an ATG that Floyd declined.

Calzaghe on the other hand cannot be accused of dodging any opposition that was willing to go to Britain to make the fight. Young Jones,Jr and young Hopkins were both given opportunities but they declined until later on when they needed Calzaghe's stature to ehnance their careers. In short, Calzaghe dominated his division with iron fist.
