I don't see the big deal, a 45 year old guy with a 16-9 record against a guy that has had a handful of fights, and that is a big fight? The fight itself was guff aswell, they looked awful.

          my final thoughts on this:

          - NCAA wrestling is amateur wrestling on a national level.
          - Brock Lesner was an amateur wrestler with very little MMA background (3 fights)
          - Despite this fact, that is all it took for him to win the Heavyweight title.

          - An amateur boxer (on national or world level) could not have a couple pro fights and win a major title from a major champion in the sport.
          - he couldn't do this even if he won an olympic gold medal.

          - all it takes is an amateur background in wrestling.. you don't even need pro experience to win in the UFC. therefor it is not as technical or as difficult as boxing.
          - Boxing over all is a much more advanced, disciplined and harder sport.

I don't even understand that comment. His wrestling didn't win him the fight? So you're saying Brocks background as a wrestler didn't have a major factor in beating Couture? What fight were you watching when Lesnar had dominate position in the first round on the ground while pinning Couture's arm and landing solid punches. Just because you win a fight with TKO doesn't mean you didn't use other styles to get you to that point.

Its still a wrestler vs wrestler match up.....thats fact you can't argue, both Brock and Randy's background is wrestling and thats their strengths. Anyone analyzing this fight from the start knew Lesnar was a terrible style for Couture. Couture has had problems with bigger wrestlers in the past(Barnett). ?

I do think brocks size was an issue, but it wasnt why he won the fight,
Don't be ridiculous... the reason way a guy like Lesnar is able to dominate in MMA without much experience has everything to do with size. Theirs never been anyone in MMA with that much size and speed with a legit wrestling background on top. Mark Kerr is the closest thing that comes to mind and Lesnar has a solid 20 lbs on him. You'll never see anyone come in like that and dominate in the other weight classes without much experience because the size isn't a factor.

he won the fight cos randy wasnt as defensively good as he usually is. even in the first round he was getting tagged way more than he did against silvia or gonzaga
I agree he wasn't as defensively good as he usually is...then again Lesnar is huge with a bigger wingspan than Sylvia and Randy has to worry about Lesnar shooting in on him while standing with him...that all doesn't help.

However you slice it Brock is a bad matchup for Couture. Just like Mir on paper was actually bad matchup Brock. Strong BJJ fighter vs inexperienced wrestler. Nog will be also a bad matchup for Lesnar

The fact that this was even a PPV was a joke and the outcome of the fight makes it an even bigger one.

And they say boxers couldn't last in UFC ... well, a fake athlete just did!
Brock Lesnar was an NCAA wrestling champion. How is this any different than three heavyweight boxing belts being held by ex-kickboxers?
