Think about the fan base Lesnar brings in. I have a friend who wanted to watch the fight just because he remembers Lesnar from WWE. Couldnt even say Couture's name right.

I have guys at my boxing club who are nothing more than decent amatuers who can outbox professional MMA fighters.

When someone applies basic boxing techniques they are utterly clueless.

Although, I like active ground fighters just like I like active strikers. I dislike Lay and pray, but I enjoy a great ground fight.
i love the grappling arts. especially submissions.

i watch mma because unlike in wrestling, judo or bjj matches......i get to see how a grappler uses his technique while getting whacked on the head. one thing to practice armbars and chokes on the mat......different story when someone is trying to KTFO you.

speaking great ground fight and active striking...... penn-st. pierre still on?

haven't been keeping up on my mma news since all my faves are no longer active but i'm waiting on that one.

Anyways, Couture has problems with guys coming from a pro wrestling background anyway. Brock had that and more.

I see no reason why they can't co-exist.
Both sports require alot of hard work and dedication to get to the top level and beat top level guys.

Some guys in the UFC may not have alot of UFC fighting experience, such as Brock Lesnar, but he has tons of real wrestling experience way more than the most UFC heavyweights that fight now. Hes a world class wrestler and not that WWE ****, talking about real wrestling. That experience alone, along with his natural athletic ability and Size is what gets him to challenge the best. Why would you want to see a fighter like Brock who is as gifted as him fight bums for most of his career before he gets a title shot?

As for boxing, you got young talented fighter and champions that are just happy to face bums all day and get a paycheck instead of going after the top dogs in there divisions and fighting to be the best they can be. Boxing needs more fighters like Pac who are willing to challenge themselves to be the best by doing what people think will be impossible. Such as fighting Dela Hoya and beating him.

I love both sports and if boxing can get more fighters that have the mentality of most MMA fighters ( even though some suck ) which they fight whoever the best is in their division and put them against each other. Then boxing will one day again get there Ali vs Frazier, Sugar Ray leonard vs Hearns, Hearns vs Haglar and be loved by more casual boxing fans again.
And give us some damn free big boxing fights once in awhile damn. Not everything has to be PPV or Hbo, put in on regular TV to get the fans back again. And give us boxing fans exciting fights that match the best fighters in there Division. This is why there should be only 1 real belt in each division in boxing, so the Champ has to face all the best fighters to prove he is the real champ.

Ummmmm maybe because out of the only 3 "bums" he fought in UFC so far one of them already wooped his ass and destroyed him? Hardly deserving of a title shot

me too cheers. Did u watch the UFC card? I'm a UFC hater as ya'll know and the lesnar/couture was a joke but I will admit I got a slight bit of enjoyment out of the kenny florian fight. I thought both showed very good striking skills...Florian was even MOVING the right way..to the guy's left (florian's right) away from the guy's power hand, now that was worth watching

The fact that this was even a PPV was a joke and the outcome of the fight makes it an even bigger one.

And they say boxers couldn't last in UFC ... well, a fake athlete just did!
yes, ignore all the facts and make up bull****. typical hater mentality.

Lesnar is an NCAA National wrestling champion. he is also a physical freak of nature. he is 285lbs but he possesses the speed of a middleweight and the strength of someone who is 400pounds.

not to mention couture has been inactive for over a year and shouldn't still be holding the heavyweight title. He is also 45years old and more of a natural light heavyweight.

Lesnar deserves this win but he is definitley not the best heavyweight in the world. that title belongs to Fedor Emelianenko.

Brock Lesnar far removed from his All-American collegiate wrestling days is now the U*C Heavyweight Champion by defeating a 45 year old legend.

Name any f**kin' Gold medalist Olympian from 160-178lbs of any era that could beat the 43 year old B-HOP with the same pro experience that Lesnar has?

don't' forget that lesnar out weighs couture by 65pounds. kinda like hopkins fighting someone the size equivalent of wladimir klitschko.
