What's even worse is that Joe was ecstatic with his victory over a shot fighter...saying he just beat a "Legend." Yeah, well, like I said, if I go out and beat up a World War II veteran, does that make me great because I beat up a "Hero"...a Hero that was Old/SHot?
holmes was coming up and ali was on his way out it's not the same.
joe and roy are both on there way out they are both from the same era and alomst the same age so why should calzaghe show roy respect, trinidad doesn't respect oscar and jones doesn't respect hopkins.
if roy is a ww2 vet than so is joe as they are only 3 years apart

This was different because it was the end of Roy Jones, a icon this sport. If Roy was in his prime still, it wouldn't have bothered me. And honestly, I didn't mind joe doing it in the beginning. I thought it was funny and I think even roy liked it because it was something hes always done. but when roy was bloodied, and basically finished, I think Joe should have let him off the hook as far as the taunting. At that point Joe had proven his point, no need to rub it in...

It wasn't a physical battering, it was more what it symbolised- a RJJ who was having the piss taken out of him but couldn't do anything back.

It seemed like he got Lacy'd because of the cut and the showboating and all the Slappy fans shrieking, but he didn't knock down Roy, and didn't stun him like, say, Traver did in the 11th of their third fight.

It was just domination from round 3 onwards.

Doesn't seem so long ago that Roy taunted and humiliated a shot HOFer in Tito, a guy who hadn't fought in over 2 1/2 years and was fighting at 23 lbs above his best weight. Roy is/was way past it, but it's not like Calzaghe is a spring chicken and comparing Roy to the Ali that fought Holmes is pretty ridiculous. For 10 rounds straight, Roy wasn't competitive. He got his eye split open and almost shut. Calzaghe landed on him at will. I'd say Joe battered him, though prime for prime, the results would be quite different.

It's the same in that like Ali, Roy was Shot and like Holmes, Joe was still a "live" fighter. See the point?

Again, and you really need to stop being ignorant on this subject: Everybody ages different; Science says so...and if you don't want to go by Science, hopefully you are smart enough, aware enough to use your eyes and see for yourself. If you cannot put this simple puzzle together, I don't know; not much hope for you on this topic.

"Slappy fans shrieking" - Ok, as a british boxing fan I have seen this time and time again........ Joe does not get the respect he deserves because some boxing fans, certainly almost all American fans think Joe has no power. He does, even after ALL the awful hand problems he's had. That shows how good Calzaghe is.

You don't have to like him, hell, i've seen numerous American boxers I dislike, but I will always give respect where it's due. Joe deserves respect.

Roy was SHOT himself. If Roy was young and in his prime, yeah, I'll give you that I guess.

Plus, he didn't have that "Oh My God, I'm fighting a Legend, My hero, the Man I was so scared of for a long time, and Now that his Powers are gone, I can kick his ass....ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Yes" look in his eyes and in his body manner.

It's like the Superman movie when Lex Luther was kicking around Superman when he had the Kryptonite in him. Calzaghe was Lex Luther.
