I thought it was kind of mean spirited though to give him a taste now.

If this was 1999 version of roy, i would understand. I thought the taunting was fine in the beginning. But when he was doing later as he was dominating, even Lampley said, hey Joe you've proved you point now...enough. or something like that.

Way to beat too old men joe

I'm sorry, but anyone that subscribes to this theory is... A) American, and a nationalist at that. B) Delusional, with a blatant disregard of what the sport of boxing is all about.

If either Hopkins or Jones felt Calzaghe was throwing weak combinations, without ever hurting them, they would surely have chosen to move in, without having to worry about Joe's shots and thrown more hurtful power shots?

The reason neither could, is because Joe still has some power, for which I think he deserves credit, considering all the problems he has had. AND, more importantly, it would take Tyson with a sledgehammer to deter Calzaghe - He has heart in abundance!

No class. I think it is one thing to do that to a prime fighter or maybe a fighter on the slide, but a shot fighter that was once a "Great,";that's wrong

I didn't see Holmes doing that to Ali...and Ali talked mad **** about people before...as well to Holmes. Holmes actually waved to the ref to stop the fight.

What's even worse is that Joe was ecstatic with his victory over a shot fighter...saying he just beat a "Legend." Yeah, well, like I said, if I go out and beat up a World War II veteran, does that make me great because I beat up a "Hero"...a Hero that was Old/SHot?

Are you an idiot? To say he was schooled by Hopkins, in a fight he won, is ridiculous.

Look at what Calzaghe has achieved. ANY boxer on the planet would be proud of that. I think that the (mostly American) posters on this forum should give him the respect he deserves.

but this was his boxing funeral. and roy is a nice guy and has treated joe with respect. Joe said he always admired roy. when was dripping in blood and completely done, he didn't have to taunt him at that point...

I agree it was not a one-sided battering. Roy was landing punches throughout the fight, he was just being outthrown by 3 to 1. Volume was the big difference, just as I thought it would be. The eye made it worse for Roy.
Damn dawg what fight were ya'll watching?? Roy got a royal beat down...yeah head a few good punches....that knowdown was a forearm though...but he had that uppercut that she showed in slow mo...but that's about it...let's not sugar coat this now! Roy got a beatdown...just like you I wish it would have been the other way aroudn but it wasn't...Roy is shot!!!
