Joe is not the only person in the sport who carefully selects opponents. Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins and many other american fighters do the exact same thing.

Yes, but even their hand picked opponents are better than Joe's which is my point exactly. Who is better, Mario Veit, Sakio Bika and Jeff Lacy or Mike McCallum, James Toney and B-Hop. B-Hop was a tomato can champ until his mid 30's, but then he did fight as many big names as possible and youngsters too. I just don't see Calzaghe ever taking a risk, and that is the problem. He'll only fight people when he thinks they might be ready to get their OAP bus passes. That is difference between him and the the Americans. They did NOT do that. Sure Jones fought Toney when he was slightly off peak, but he wasn't 5-6 years past his prime and coming off brutal KO losses. If Jones lost them fights on points only, I bet Calslappy would not have touched him with bargepole. He only fights when they have no chance. that is not boxing. Americans are not angels, but they do have a hard fight now and then before the other guy is about to die.
