I remember on many occasions during Roy's bum of the month period when HBO would be calling for a Jones/Calzaghe fight. Yes, Calzaghe was the undefeated champ at that time. I understand why Hopkins and Jones didn't go to Britain to fight. They were boxing royalty....the USA market...et al ad nauseum. But, this does not explain away the fact that the fight could have been made had they wanted to, or thought they could, take Calzaghe's belt. Especially in Hopkins case, a fight was negotiated but Hop pulled the plug because he wanted almost all the damn money! In other words, he wriggled out of it.

Not true. Calslappy is infamous for pulling out of fights and put of Glen Johnson three times. Them fights were there to be made but Joe didn't even have tune ups in states for fear of getting beats.Ricky too the risk and made it happen. Joe didn't want any part of it. He only got brave when they were old: FACT! He also tried pulling out of Lacy fight with broken hand but in this instance was forced to go ahead with it by FW and his dad. RJJ had the p4p status. B Hop was recognised. It was Joe's job to chase them but I never remember himever mentioing them, never mind calling them out. Watch his fights, he was a puffter!

That's like saying why hasn't Steven Gerrard left the English Premiership to play the competition in the MLS!!! Wales isn't even boxing's MLS, probably more like boxing's J-League. Everybody knows the biggest fights take place in the states, and especially for Joe because all his biggest foes were rcognised as better than him and had acheived more, were bigger draws, and were in States! He had more reasons than most fighters to go there but didin't because he would have got a KTFO. There are other names I haven't mentioned in this thread so far such as McCallum, Toney etc. Calslappy is a joke and has NEVER impressed me.

That is not the point. The point is are you really saying Joe was not overprotected and wanted to fight the best at their best, and two does beating RJJ make him great? If that is so then Johnson KO'd a washed up former p4p king and must also be a bad man legend just like Tarver. Joe fans won't say that because they know it is pathetic.
