im saying that jones brought more to this fight than he did against tarver and johnson. jones was taking training seriously and was in great shape for this fight, and extremely motivated, but calzaghe is more than a few steps above tarver and johnson, and thats something that alot of people dont realize. roy may be "shot" compared to his old self, but i just can't imagine someone would train so hard and look so good before the fight and not have any game what so ever. jones had no answer for joe, it wasn't that he was shot or wasnt trying, the problem was joe calzaghe, not roy jones.

I disagree. Are you saying Jones didn't train as hard for Tarver and Johnson and wasn't as motivated? Yeah, Glen Johnson didn't beat him like Joe but then again Roy had more in the tank then, then now. Even though he didn't dominate him like such, he still got a 9th round KO. Tarver got a second round knock out and a UD against Jones too.

Then your signature says "Roy Jones Jr. is the most over rated fighter in boxing history" if that is so then why is Calzaghe getting any credit for beating him?

Exacty, us Roy Jones fans has been too obsessed with the fact that he dominated Trinidad, threw Hanshaw around like his own little *****. While Calzaghe fought Kessler, Hopkins, Lacy etc. during that time.. I'm proud of Roy and his career and what he accomplished, and he has nothing to be ashamed of. He stood toe to toe (all though not throwing) with Calzaghe when his eye was about to damn near fall off.

I've never seen a Calzaghe opponent that was not confused. Confused fighters tend to lock up and become uncertain, exactly like Roy did last night. And, say what you want about a prime on prime fantasy match....I sincerely doubt that youth alone would have alleviated this condition.

then Tarver and Johnson must be ATG's!!! They are obviously legends too based on such idiotic logic, as they actually knocked him out a few years ago when he was also shot. THEREFORE THEY ARE BIGGER LEGENDS THAN CALSLAPPY according to the ****** opinions of Brit boxing fans. In fact Trevor Burbick is also a legend for beating Ali when he had Parkisons. Joe's win against Roy was decent. Calzaghe isn't a young man either, then again, he has never been in the ring with competition that even matches Jones and therefor doesn't have the ring years Jones does. At the end of the day, it still an old Jones he beat. It's impossible to give Calzaghe as much credit for beating Jones as Glen Johnson and Antonio Tarver. Just not gonna happen.

Really, you shouldn't be blaming the critics for Joe's status being into question. You should be blaming Frank Warren and Joe himself for not having signed to fight bigger names earlier. Now it seems like too little to late. There is no way we are gonna know how Joe faired against these opponents prime for prime since he never fought them when they where a top of their game.

i'm not really a big Jones fan, and this thread actually has NOTHING to do with him. I just don't like a fraud. I don't think you understand how the Brit media are making out he beat a prime RJJ! If they say this validates his ATG status then it means Tarver and Johnson are bigger legends, does it not? You cannot have it both ways. The legendary Clinton Woods beat Johnson too! Hurray!!!
