Yes I watched him in his prime wasting his talent fighting a string of hapless bums. I finally gave up. Anybody can look good against a punching bag. He looked absolutely great.
He looked pretty good against Hopkins,Toney,Hill who took Hearns the distance and took his best shots he KO'ED Malinga who beat Benn twice as far as im concerned he got robbed in the first fight with Benn he also beat Thorton by knockout who Eubank laboured with he also beat Reggie Johnson with EASE a guy who gave Toney a litte trouble and dropped him there are some very credible names on Jones record but you have to actully watch these fights before you can comment so you are ****ed clearly

Joe's wins over Veit,Manfredo, puds are better than Jones wins over the bin men though i agree

There was no money train for Calzaghe until Hopkins and Jones decided to let him end their legitimate careers. IT was a long time coming, but eventually it came, and they went with a whimper.

      • No way in hell.

I mean come on ; are you serious?

A prime Roy would have ****d a prime Joe.

Imagine how much speed, power, skill Jones had in his prime - a shot Jones knocked down a still live fighter in Joe imagine in his prime. Jones would have been on the other side of the ring already when Joe could have came in, ****t last night Jones kept comming at Joe regardless of being hit still. No way Joe beats Jones, too much speed and skill. At the time where Jones was around 168, he fought better competiton then at the time Joe was fighting fighters who were basically bums. If a shot Roy with a cut for the first time in his career stood 12 rounds and didnt go down once againest Joe of today ; that says alot.

Its funny if you think about it; had this fight happened 10 years ago we'd be talking about how Jones embarrased people and saying "remember that fight where Jones was so fast for that british guy who all he can do was run at Jones slapping him, Jones was soo skilled

But if you want to say only Roy Jones is capable of losing speed and reflexes as they age, well, thats on you.

Roy Jones isn't God, Superman or whatever else you guys want him to be in the annals of boxing history. He like many other greats, had great and memorable prime runs.

          Doesn't make him unbeatable.

Or, I could always look at Joe Cs prime and claim him unbeatable as well.

          46-0 supports my claim.
I am not surprised you never saw either of them, because you are fairly ignorant about this sport.

Anyway, in their primes Charles is 3-0 against Moore.

In the 2nd half of the 50s Charles was shot, while Moore was 175 champ and had only 1 loss in 5 years, against Floyd Patterson.

And Moore was older than Charles.

Clearly these two *facts* must be incompatible for you, right?

I never said they were all bums. Just most of them. There's no telling what Roy might have accomplished had he not sold out to the business of boxing. Heck, he might have even decided to fight Joe Calzaghe. That would have been a great match, IMO.

              • Jones stood infront of Calz and laid on the ropes cause he had NO legs cause he is old and shot

and that is the top and bottom of it

                • Roy Jones Jr. was shot. Glen Johnson proved it and so did Tarver. Roy, me and all his fans, made the mistake of thinking he was not. Wins over fringe contenders and a faded Tito doesn't make him not shot, it just means he can still compete at the lower levels of the sport.

and like i said Tarver,Johnson were able to beat him cause his legs had gone and he was a more stationary target he was there to be hit where as in his prime he was not which is what happened against Calzaghe too

I didn't see him look old and washed up against Trinidad... That was how long ago? 10 months ago? lol

So he went from a still competitive fighter to a washed up bum in 10 months. I don't think so...

I don't see any difference in the outcome if it were 10 or or 15 years ago.

Calzaghe owns Jones at any age. His style just plain overwhelms Jones and Jones is not a good technical fighter.

Get over it, quit crying, man up, and admit your boy got soundly beat by the better fighter, and the outcome would of been the same regardless if it was 5 or 10 years ago.
Prime Roy would've toyed with Joe. He would've finished Joe after that early KD in a manner that his old version couldn't.
