Chad Dawson: "I'll Fight Joe Calzaghe in Wales"

Explain how Dawson is more proven than an undefeated 39-0 guy who has fought more current and former champs and still remained undefeated, while unifying the SMW titles and having about twice the number of title defenses, before fighting Calzaghe? I would love to hear your response.
Dawson beat Harding( who was the first to beat Tarver), Adamek( an unbeaten LHW champion who was about 33-0 at the time and is also currently ranked #2 at cruiser weight and just stopped last years cruiser weight champion) Glen Johnson( who previously had the IBF LHW belt before losing it controversially to Clinton Woods in his back yard a year prior) Tarver( who was IBF/IBO LHW champion at the time. While Johnson and Tarver were past their prime, they were no where near shot and was still competing and beating top 10 ranked opponents.
Also, Kessler didn't really unify the SMW titles. He beat Mundine and Beyer( for a paper title and he was seen as past his prime and came in for a pay check) and then lost to Calzaghe. If he would have won that fight, then he would have unified.
Dawson was matched tough and early. I think he only had about 22 or 23 fights when he first challenged for the title, now how many fights did Kessler have before he finally stepped up?

Put me on board with Chad Dawson......but I have followed Chad for a long time.....my thing is this.....BHop was beatable and so was RJ.....I thought Joe would thrash Pavlik...I KNOW Chad is a different fighter.......JC beat guys who don't throw.....and is not that strong...RJ aint knocked nobody out since who knows when and neither has Bhop.......Pavlik has but he is easy pickings and 2 weight divisions lower...Joe, fight Chad and then go. If he don't I will not call him a punk or nothing...he has been in boxing for a long time but Chad's time is now.

He might just have to wait in line. Old man Hopkins who I and many others believe BEAT Calzaghe, got rid of Pavlik(Who would have forced Calzaghe to fight him, legacy wise) FOR HIM and showed that he is still a guy that will not let Calzaghe retire ON TOP. Calzaghe still has enough left in him to give Boxing bigger fights and add more greatness to his legacy. He's too obsessed with his 0.

Calzaghe, if you're that good, don't you want a belt to retire perfectly? Like Mayweather did, vs a younger and undefeated champion? Think of Ricky and then think of Marciano. Do you want the Marciano stigma on you or do you rather Louis' or Ali's?

One thing is certain. Joe Calzaghe always seems to fight WITH the odds and not against them. Lacy and Kessler were calculated risks specially if you look at their records. No hall of famer got there fighting with the odds, but rather against them.
