Calzaghe has nothing left to prove - let it go! Dawson needs to deal with unfinished business against Diaconu, let alone prove himself against fighters who could quite conceivably beat him (Kessler, Hopkins) before he's even in a position to mention Calzaghe's name.

Chad Dawson doesn't deserve to be in the ring with Calzaghe.

As far as Im concerned, young dawson is the man at 175 right now. Not to take nothing away from calzaghe, but he's only fought twice at that wgt. Anyone who thinks chad is somehow undeserving of a bout with calzaghe is pretty much wiggin' out. He's had as productive a year as calzaghe has in beating johnson (who everyone prefers to duck given the risk/reward factor) and tarver. You cant tell me fighting jones & b-hop (esp at this stage in their careers) is anymore noteworthy than what dawson has accomplished in '08. Dawson has held the wbc belt & currently holds the ibf alpha strap which in all actuality is just a sig as the "ring" title that calzaghe currently holds given who joe c. had to defeat in order to gain & retain it. Someone said that joe would easily whoop johnson. I beg to differ. Sure, he'd probably win but NOBODY defeats johnson easily. He brings his hard hat & lunch pail to the ring everytime. I think dawson had some difficulty b/c he chose to stand & trade (on many occasions) instead of boxing more. Calzaghe, for the most part, outworks his opponents & in some cases out wills them (as he did against kessler). For some reason, I dont think he'll be able to accomplish that against chad dawson. He's a better all around boxer with sig better hand & foot speed than kessler. He throws crisp combo's and will have no prob pulling the trigger letting his hands go (unlike hopkins & jones). I've read comments where people question his chin but hell, calzaghe had to pull his azz off the deck to get victories in his prev two bouts the same way dawson has done in the past. This would be an excellent fight b/c dawson has the hand speed & work rate to give joe c. a go. Calzaghe is wales' version of de la hoya so if it were to take place in europe it should/would earn quality revenues. Im not sure if joe will actually risk taking on the talented youngster b/c that 0 is very imp to him at this pt. I doubt he'll give kessler or hopkins rematches even though I think the hopkins that out-hustled a much younger fighter who is also known to throw 800..900 punches a fight would have turned that 0..to 1 had he fought in similar fashion. If calzaghe isnt going to fight the very best that 175 has to offer then he should retire and call it a very accomplished career.

By the way, anyone remotely comparing chad dawson to jeff lacy's one dimensional..solely looking for the k-o behind knows jack about boxing. Sure lacy was undefeated but hell most good prospects are undefeated early in their careers b/c those records are usually padded against fringe contenders & bums. Dawson has beaten the most recent cream of the crop in the light-heavy div. It wasnt too long ago that tarver & johnson were both "the men to beat at 175". Sure jc doesnt need to fight him but ya'll wildin if you think he'd simply walk thru & look cute against some1 with dawson's ability.
