I was speaking generally, blocking was by no means a cornerstone of his style. All boxers block to some degree.

From fighting too long of course (he took some punishment in his final stretch), but I agree that it's probably more drug use than boxing.

Yes, except Whitaker is one of the greatest ever to do it...not quite "to some degree." He blocked just as well as he evaded.

ok, winning on points is more probable and someway i didnt say that...but i just say i wouldnt discredit a late tko based on the fact that floyd always has great strategy and invests in body shots early not only to slow down his opponent but also to confuse em. See the corrales or the judah fight (that could easily went to a stoppage if it wasnt for the low blow) after a while they dont know what to expect from his feints, hes able to feint to the body to lower down your guard expecting a body jab and then go to the chin with extreme accuracy either with a left hook or a lead right. I think if he sees some shots on target late in the rounds he would go out for combinations that could make the referee stop the fight.

Floyd ain't stopping no Pernell Whitaker, just stop it. And to keep it real, he ain't beating him either. You seem to know a lot about the way Floyd fights...how bout Pea?

yeah but he mostly moved with slips and circling and whole bunch of unneccessary movements. I'm gon with Floyd over whitaker too. the thing that used to piss me off at time is that whitaker would be slippn punches but that is all he would be doing. That is what he did in that Oscar fight whcih he should of won if he was better transitionist. Floyd just migh tbe the best at coming form defense to instant offense. That is ewhat Pea lacke IMO. Also, let's be real Judah only won rds 2,3 and 12. Rd 1 was pretty much a even rd. also, to this day Judah has not been dominated and outcalssed for 9rds straight since or before his fight with Floyd. Mitchell didn't win a rd and neither did Corley and he ****** with Corley for 12 rds straight. I don't think Southpaws are his weakness, but southpaws are the only one that have actually put their hands on him flush.

                  Cort, I disagree.

The Whitaker who fought Oscar was well-past it. Period. Terrible, terrible example.

And yeah you can be nit-picky about what rounds Judah won but who cares? Let's not forget he knocked Floyd down too - catching him coming in with a right hook.

Pernell Whitaker is much, MUCH better than...everyone Floyd fought.

also whiatker got robbed alot because he would be bsing at times. I don't think he was more focused, he was just extremely talented. If he had more discipline, i think he would have been looked at better than he is now. He wasted some opportunities to me.
