Pernell Whitaker Asked about his and Mayweathers Defense (Video)

Hmm.. This would have been a great fight to watch... I feel mayweather loses though I love mayweather... pernell had everything mayweather has with POWER(NOT CRAZY but MORE THAN MAY). and arguably better defense/reflexes..

    Power??? I mean... just... no?!

Seriously Pea's power is underrated because he mostly chose to wins his fights otherwise, but Mayweather has more power. I have seen pretty much every fight of both, and while Pea had that killer instinct when he decided, and would step more on his punches than he did in his standard all D mode, Mayweather just hit harder.

    Great vid. I love Pea.

I would have loved to see this fight. A lot would boil down to how good (let's make it great since we are talking about Sweet Pea) of a plan B Mayweather would have. I always thought that Pea has a better plan A, but also Mayweather has more options. So that's why I am saying this. Mayweather is not going to win by potshotting against Pea, but he can still decide to go forward and do it very effectively, so there is a lot of possibilities there.

It might also be a welcome and unexpected gift for fans that the fight might be up for grabs late and both would let a bit of strategy go out the window.

He actually sounds better than a lot of his contemporaries, I'm happy that he actually has lucid thoughts and can be understood without a translator.

pernell's power is waaaay underrated because of his low ko ratio, but when he wanted to put the hurt on someone, he did. pernell was a true FIGHTER despite his disguise as a slick boxer!
