    Possibly.

I don't think he could literally walk out of a corner without getting hit by a single shot either, when I see pea do that I always crack out laughing.

But that **** doesnt win fights between two fighters of this level. And actually the fact that Mayweather wouldnt pull bull**** like that even if he could, is one of his assets over Pea. Pea lost fights or made them way too close because of clowning.

Remember how Zab Judah was once called "Pernell Whitaker with power?" Well, if Floyd Mayweather had problems with that version of Zab imagine the difficulties he'd face against Pea.
hmm that was a good post.... i agree.

I mostly agree, but I think the Judah fight is relevant up to some point in the comparison. Because on one hand Pea is 10x the fighter Judah ever was, on the other hand Judah hit 10x harder than Pea did.

So Mayweather would not have to be nearly as cautious/tentative early on, but he also would never have been able to shut down Pea the way he shut down Judah later in the fight.

I don't see that. I remember Whitaker when he was fighting and he sounds the same to me. Whether that's good or bad.

Add to that, Whitaker was an inactive 35 year old fighter when that fight took place. Way past his prime. Some of the examples used to argue for Mayweather are ridiculous.

Wmute has made some good points, but, I think we're all missing a very important point if this fight ever happened. I would personally take Pea over Mayweather. They are both hideously skilled and both obviously have brilliant counter punching skills that come from a stunning defensive game. So without the next point it would be a real pick 'em fight, with most maybe going for Pea apart from the more contemporary watchers of Mayweather.

The biggest point that makes me think Pea would win is quite simply that he is a southpaw. In every fight that Mayweather has had problems in, apart from Castillo 1, his opponent has been a southpaw. It is simply one of his weakest points. He struggles against southpaws and in Pea he would be facing the best southpaw ever, along with Hagler.

One that has focus for an entire fight, has speed, combination's, great body work (a facet of his game that is very underrated), both an aggressive and a defensive game and, of course, his defense. I would be undecided or could make cases for both guys if it were not for this point. Being that he is a southpaw that tips the scale for me to a definite Pea win. Mayweather has been hit quite a lot with the right hook. He was hurt against Corley with it and knocked down against Judah with it, despite it being ruled a slip. He gets hit most frequently by southpaws.
