Fighters fight for themselves, they do not owe the sport anything at any stage. They train their arses off to go out their and get hit in the head for out entertainment. If anyone owes anybody anything in this game we fans owe the fighters.

I just don't understand how beating unproven fighters like Kessler/Lacy and 43 Y/o B-Hop can move you into the number 2 spot. As disrespectful as this may sound F! Calzaghe's 20+ Title Defenses. Look at B-Hop and Calzaghe's opposition and tell me who ran threw the better opponents? Calzaghe is being given too much credit but I don't need to say this. The hate speaks for itself

i'll allow him to retire so he can stop stinking up the sport with his pansy windmilling style. he's been retired his whole career already hiding in wales fighting a who's who's list of milk carton warriors.

I believe any fighter who has fought that many fights over such a long period of time has earnt the right to call it a day whenever they want to. If he wants to finish up then nobody should hold it against him."

...just like Mayweather chosing not to fight Cotto or Margarito, (minus the wear and tear and age excuse of course). Well, that's your opinion and I see 5 others sharing the same notion.
I said absolutely nothing against FLoyd when he retired either. If a fighter has had enough they have had enough, its their decision. They don't owe the sport anything.

I think it's time for some fresh blood.
Zags has already got a spot. So does RJJ. So does B-Hop. (In no particular order.)
**** all this. I want to see Pavlik vs Abraham at 160.
          So many match up's.
          Thats from the MW's.
Then you got the LW's. THEN you got the WW's.
Boxing isn't dead. The **** is just getting started.

Who gives a **** about all this dude? The topic is whether fans should hold it against him if he retires without fighting Pavlik.

True, true... still Pavlik v. Calzaghe would've been good, but I also understand Calzaghe has to keep his unbeaten legacy and all...Mayweather v. Cotto/Margarito all over again.

I really don't care if he does or doesn't fight Pavlik. My opinion is that he'd beat Pavlik without much trouble. Your right he doesn't owe us anything...neither do we owe him respect

If Kelly destroys Hopkins, I think there will be a long and loud cry for the Calzaghe fight to be made. Whether anything comes of it is another matter.

If Kelly destroys Hopkins, Calzaghe's hand would all of a sudden need serious surgery that would take around 3 years to heal....he promises fans though that he'll fight Pavlik after it heals though.
