Will boxing fans allow Calzaghe to retire without facing Pavlik?

...in the event Pavlik wins over Hopkins in a dominating fashion? If Pavlik does, I think Calzaghe retires the next day.

He will take a lot of criticism for sure if he doesn't. But assuming both win, I do think Calzaghe will fight him.

We have basically no say when and if a fighter retires...

You see the problem with that question is, what can fans really do if Cal does retire after the RJJ fight? I mean do we all fly to his village in Wales and protest until he fights Pavlik lol. If he retires all it will mean is that fans will have questions about him and his legacy just like most of us did after Lewis retired without rematching Vitali. But that went away over time because the fans focus on something new so if Joe retires I'm sure some will ***** but after a while people will give him props.

Calzaghe said in an interview that Jones is his last fight...err well, he did say that Pavlik ducked him in that interview too, so I don't know if he's lying.

We can all call him "chicken". That would be his legacy if he doesn't fight Pavlik. Vitali and Lewis fought already...this is a question of one fighter ducking a fighter most likely to give him trouble.

Yes we could and I'm sure Joe would cry himself to sleep over it on his mountain of money lol

Exactly. Joe has been fighting for 16 years, made a fortune, and can retire any damn time he wants to. He owes Pavlik nothing.
