Kessler has major weapons that work for him, whereas I'm really not sure that Taylor has something similar.
And Taylor is MUCH, MUCH faster than Kess. End of story.

It is EXPECTED of them. What really separates the men from the boys is facing truly elite competition. Kessler has done it once, and it looked like he was out of place. Taylor, whether or not you agree with the official scores of the two Hopkins fights or the Winky bout, PROVED that he BELONGED in the ring with those types of guys.

Whatever way you look at it, Joe is ducking Pavlik.
Whether it's because it's too much of a risk at this stage of his career or he feels he is declining, he doesn't want to fight Pavlik.
You may feel it's justfied. You may, unlike myself, think that he's earned the right to retire after the RJJ fight. But you simply cannot deny that he is ducking Pavlik.
If he was good enough to fight Joe as a prospect, he is definitely good enough to fights as a champion.
Unfortunately, I cannot see it happening. Joe has always taken the easy route, and it was only when faced with the stark reality that he had a poor resume, did he seek out challenges like Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. Now he has those, and probably RJJ, he is not going to want Pavlik.
And you know what the funny thing is?
No-one can even blame Frank Warren for this fight not happening.
But hey, I guess he "deserves" to make money and then call it a day after the RJJ fight. I mean, that's what boxing's all about, right? Seeing your favourite fighter make tons of money, only taking the fights that make business sense. I don't know why the rest of us want to see match-ups between the best.
What are we thinking?

Taylor and Kessler are proven. I'd take Kessler to beat Taylor. Taylor has a good shot to out box Kessler, but I think Kessler's size and big right hand would eventually catch up to Taylor.
