We're not thinking like you. You can talk about Cal not wanting to fight Pav until you are blue in the face, but you have no proof he doesn't want to fight Pav. Pav hasn't even proved he is the best at 160, and he has not fought any of the many talented fighters at 168 either. So whatchutalkinabout...Mr?Whatever way you look at it, Joe is ducking Pavlik.
Whether it's because it's too much of a risk at this stage of his career or he feels he is declining, he doesn't want to fight Pavlik.
You may feel it's justfied. You may, unlike myself, think that he's earned the right to retire after the RJJ fight. But you simply cannot deny that he is ducking Pavlik.
If he was good enough to fight Joe as a prospect, he is definitely good enough to fights as a champion.
Unfortunately, I cannot see it happening. Joe has always taken the easy route, and it was only when faced with the stark reality that he had a poor resume, did he seek out challenges like Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. Now he has those, and probably RJJ, he is not going to want Pavlik.
And you know what the funny thing is?
No-one can even blame Frank Warren for this fight not happening.
But hey, I guess he "deserves" to make money and then call it a day after the RJJ fight. I mean, that's what boxing's all about, right? Seeing your favourite fighter make tons of money, only taking the fights that make business sense. I don't know why the rest of us want to see match-ups between the best.
What are we thinking?Comment

He lost to the only elite fighter he has ever faced. Pavlik won his (2) elite fights.
Simple enough?
Please get rid of the beast on your avatar man, thats just wrong.Comment

Because unfortunately thats how some people think.
Admittedly Taylor is better than anyone in Kessler's win column. But guys like Beyer, Mundine and Andrade are all world level operators and as good, if not better than anyone else on Pavlik's record.
And in terms of ability, I just think Kessler is the better all round fighter.Comment

But Ive already gone over this. Kessler fought an elite fighter. Pavlik fought an accident waiting to happen.
I agree with the second part though. I just hope its not his bird, then I'd feel kinda bad.
