They fought twice. The first fight I feel Ramirez won by 1 round, the second fight was Whitaker's most dominate performance.
See I was expecting you to come back and say...dude I was joking. Know I'll have to sig it!!

Thats fine, I stand by what I said and I am not embarrassed about it. Whitaker gave that fight away. I just watched it AGAIN and I stand by my conclusion.

Whitaker did not do enough to win the later rounds and it lost him the fight.

I think Pernell was well on the way too winning, he gave up a few of the early rounds when he got on his bike, but he was doing well. The turning point came in the later rounds, he was playing a little too much look at me and was not dictating the pace of the fight. In the later rounds he appeared to fatigue, and Ramirez was starting to get some work done.

All of that boils down to Whitakers inexperience though. I feel this loss was a blessing for Whitaker. After this fight there was a marked change in his style and the way he controlled the ring. Its obvious that him and his team sat down, watched the fight, and realized what happened because they changed it.

I'm still going to say he won the fight reasonably easily. I know Ramirez did better towards the end of the fight when Pernell took his foot off the gas and seemed a little tired but in a lot of those rounds the little offense that Whitaker actually did trumped Ramirez who seemed to land pretty much nothing effective at all.

What I saw in those later rounds was Pernell on his bike and the punches he did throw were to keep Ramirez off of him and not to control the pace of the fight. It is the only time in his career where I honestly felt Whitaker was running.

Ramirez was clearly in control of the pace, and Whitaker looked a little confused as to what to do with a man that just kept comming. I also thought that Ramirez did start to land some effective punches, although since it is Whitaker, not that many, but I felt he did enough to win those rounds.

I'd say Whitaker has a better chin, he was past prime and took some big, big shots from one of the hardest hitting welterweights in the past 20 years and didn't get hurt, the knockdown looked more off balance than anything, I don't think Mayweather could have taken those shots.

I'd go with Whitaker for stamina as well, he never got tired after throwing 70 or 80 shots a round, not sure if I've seen Mayweather do that for 12 rounds.

Whitaker mainly chose not to counter off the ropes just to toy with his opponents, he'd just smile and spin off the ropes and then make them miss again but he most certainly could counter off the ropes when he wanted to.

And Whitaker won the first Ramirez fight very, very clearly. It was one of the worst robberies I have ever seen, he won at least 9 rounds of that fight and some could even argue he won all 12.

I don't think so. Whitaker would win a land slide. Floyd is truly awful against southpaws, Whitaker is the best southpaw of all time.

That's hard to say because both of them haven't faced as slick a fighter as each other. I do think Whitaker's jab would work great for him in this fight but Mayweather would have his moments as well.

Close but clear decision to Whitaker I think.
