Also, it is my job to disparage Roy at every opportunity.
Every fighter has some flaws. Some cover it up well with a padded record supplied by Frank Warren.

      yeah

i think he is one of the more knowledgeable commentators obviously i think he is talking out his arse here saying Jones was not a great fighter and he did not work on his craft etc but on the whole he does a pretty good job breaking down fights etc

i dont agree with him that Lewis would beat Muhammad Ali either BTW

Joe's biggest flaw is the gap between how good his abilities actually are and how good the average American can believe them to be.

Also, he is crap at showboating.

Roy is both. He is a great all around athlete and you don't get to P4P number one without SOME sort of boxing ability. He just had an unorthadox style. His punch technique most of the time was brilliant and even when he'd pull something totally unorthadox it worked. He is a great fighter who's athletiscm covered his flaws (until it started to fade)

I actually think Ali tends to be underrated by hardcore boxing fans, almost as though because casuals see him as "The Greatest" we have to go out of our way to say he isn't. If Lennox could beat Ali it would be mostly due to his size, but I think skillswise Ali was in a different class to Lewis and this combined with his mobility means I would pick Ali to outbox him most times out of ten.

Joe's biggest flaw is telling himself that reitiring undefeated would be his biggest achievement.

What's an '0' with out a list with names on it? He will have regrates when he looks back. Am sure he will.

"and so he ended up being great in the ring. "-Bernstein

So therefore he was a great fighter, fighting is what he did in that ring. lol

Its true in a lot of ways. Look at James Toney. Took some much time to master the craft, that when he lost all his speed and reflexes, he had a tremendous amount of skill to fall back on

The only thing I can see him regretting is that he never got a crack at a prime Roy, the rest of them Johnson, Tarver etc are all much of a muchness. He'll be happy with the Hopkins win IMO. Also, he must realise he could easily lose to prime Roy but I bet he does think he would win.

Ali had more skill but i dont think he had as good a Boxing brain as Lennox Lewis

Lewis has plenty of skill aswell just not as much as Muhammad Ali ,Lewis was a very good counter puncher

i think where Ali edges Lewis in a fight is speed, stamina, jab

Lewis could be outjabbed even though he had a good jab himself
