Like mentioned before Toney is too wide open for Tito's assault. I think this fight ends just like Tito/Campus. This would be a brutal ko. Margarito will be dealing with TitoSyndrome for the rest of his career.
Could Trinidad take Margarito's pressure for 12 rounds?

I see it like this...
Margarito gets ahead comfortably early but tito pulls it out in the middle and late rounds for a decision win.
One thing that cotto didnt stress (like i was hoping he would) was the body attack...
i dont care HOW TOUGH you are...how good your chin is...your body is still vulnerable to body shots...
if tito (and if cotto would have) works the body he can slow down margarito.
i see margarito being able to beat almost everyone in or near 147 with the exception of a select few...(prime oscar, floyd, and thats about it i think i might have missed one).
it would be a clear win for margarito but am i the only one that wants to see him fight mayorga (because both a crazy, love to brawl and have very good chins).Comment

People keep saying Trinidad vs Campas. Margarito is no Campas. Tony would surprise a lot of folks in this fight just like he surprised everyone when he KO'd Cotto. The better chin wins.Comment

If anyone is backing up, then it would be Margarito because Trinidad certainly wouldn't. Trinidad punches harder, has a great chin, is the better boxer and has more options of winning. Margarito is hit too much and i rank Trinidad behind Hearns and Robinson welterweight punchers. Margarito would be too tough for own good and it would take his corner or the referee to stop it. Margarito beat Cotto, a very good elite fighter with good skills but no where near Trinidad in terms of toughness, chin and punching power. I didn't mind it before, but now i must admit that people are starting to overrate this guy. Margarito is a good fighter but Trinidad is way above him. Prime Trinidad by stoppage.Comment

The real question should be could Marg take Titos pressure/power for 12 rounds? Margs is a very good pressure fighter, in fact that is one of his best qualities as a fighter, but in this fight it would be his downfall. I would look more toward to tito vs mayorga fight to see what would eventually happen. Mayorga may not be fighter marg is but both are pressure fighters, great chins, alittle on the poorer side on terms of defense. Marg would get picked apart the same way, because he would NOT run out of gas and eventually titos accuracy, pressure and power would be to much for marg to handle. This would just be a great addition to what is already a great highlight reel. Some people question titos "suspect" chin, but how can you question it when hes only been koed once and by Bernand Hokpins who fought the perfect fight. The Hopkins that fought Trinidad is a different version that what you see today. Tito would most of the time get caught early to get right back up and eventually ko his opponent. NO ONE at WW or 154 during his time could stand toe to toe and win, he had to move to 160 to be stopped. If Marg was around in the mid to late 90s he would have never been considered the most feared man in boxing, there would have been to many names to mention that would have challeged him and most likely defeated him. Tito was around the ww division when it was better than it is now. Most people are starting to forget that Cotto was the favorite coming into the fight so against prime tito i see KO/TKO rd 10Last edited by Eman; 08-25-2008, 07:33 AM.Comment

Difference is, Campas' chin is about half of what Margarito's is.
When a fight relies on his punch as much as Tito did, and he can't dent another fighter, it disheartens him. Watch Cintron in both fights vs Tony. Watch fighters crumble against Julio Cesar Chavez, in particular, Edwin Rosario, one of the hardest punchers in lightweight history. After he realized that he couldn't hurt Chavez he didn't know what to do and Chavez ran him down.
I think Tony's beard would hold up to Tito's punch. Remember, when Tito moved up he couldn't KO David Reid and it took him 12 rounds to finally stop Vargas. Both fighters were young bucks and delicate in the chin department. If Fernando can stand up to Tito for 12 rounds then Tony backs Tito up all night long.Last edited by Eman; 08-25-2008, 07:59 AM.Comment
