There is a thread about that fight also were i said Duran was the top 135 pound fighter of all time also that he could possibly put a whipping on Floyd (which is a very hard thing to do), but i can see Floyd boxing and flustering him also. To me it is a classic style contrast and i always tend to favor skilled boxers because of who he is at 135 Duran should be the betting favorite no doubt.

that;s a whole different story, you could argue and many have said that cortez's officiating was far from balanced.he had floyd off of his feet a certain times.the point i was trying to make was ray in his entirety.I'm talking ray at his finest, the combination of speed power will no doubt in my mind wither floyd. You and I saw different things in that fight then because i saw Floyd beat Hatton at his own game. To me Floyd dominated that fight in a way that was not expected. It is no big deal though sometimes people see the same thing and draw completely different conclusions
and this is the arguello thread, i' don't know where we go off to ray vs may.Comment

We will never agree on that because what i saw in that fight was that Hatton would lose to Mayweather anytime and anywhere with any ref. We do not have to agree on that though. I just think Floyd has one of those styles that tends to not allow him to take a malicious beating, could super top shelf guys like Robinson, Duran or Pryor do it; it is not out of the question i just find it unlikely that he gets beat that way. He could lose for sure but take a real ass whipping i don't know.that;s a whole different story, you could argue and many have said that cortez's officiating was far from balanced.he had floyd off of his feet a certain times.the point i was trying to make was ray in his entirety.I'm talking ray at his finest, the combination of speed power will no doubt in my mind wither floyd.

Name one fighter at 130 from who was there from 96-02 that was a top 50 fighter? Infact, name a fighter right now other than oscar who would be considered a top 50 fighter right now, considering you have been "watching boxing for 30 years" you sure dont pay attention, you are retroactively judging under todays circumstances as opposed to when mayweather opened up as a underdog against a man who went on to fight in arguably the greatest fight ever, against one of the best fighters at 135 whom floyd beat. I can take constructive criticism about what happened at 147, even maybe 140 (a division still a mess to this day) but 130? No. He cleaned that place out.
I was pretty much going to say everything you said here.Comment

I get tired of the lies about Mayweather not "fighting the best" True, he didn't fight Cotto or Margarito at 147, his 4th division. But that doesnt erase Genero Hernandez, Corrales, Jesus Chavez, and Jose luis Castillo. Hatton is the best at 140. delahoya was a champion at 154 when Mayweather fought him. Those fighter were "the best" at that time. If not, tell me who was better during that period? Can you? I didn't think so.Comment

wtf are you smoking? You still didn't answer Ernies question. And i doubt you have been watching boxing for 30 years. What are you a 50 year old on message boards all day? Your signatures shows you're about 15-17 years old. Corrales very overrated?
You've been watching boxing since 07 don't lie to yourself.WOW y'all feel very threatend by my age .... What I do with my free time is none of your concerns.. and I simply bring up how long I have been watching boxing to make a point that greatness is measured over time and that in 30 years of watching the sport .. I can say that Floyd for all his talents.. did not acehive ANYTHING that could be considered GREAT.. not many fighters do..Name one fighter at 130 from who was there from 96-02 that was a top 50 fighter? Infact, name a fighter right now other than oscar who would be considered a top 50 fighter right now, considering you have been "watching boxing for 30 years" you sure dont pay attention, you are retroactively judging under todays circumstances as opposed to when mayweather opened up as a underdog against a man who went on to fight in arguably the greatest fight ever, against one of the best fighters at 135 whom floyd beat. In no way did I suggest that y'all are a bunch of ******s.. So why are you getting so defensive??
Now El Jesus at least gave a well worded and thougt out retort.. the rest of you need to find out why my opinion differing from yours upsets you to the point where you forget your manners and act like a bunch of monkeys on typewriters.. Insult me?? that will prove your point really well.. Nice one..
El Jesus.. I did not say he didnt clean out 130 or 135.. Nor did I say he was favoured against Coralles.. What I said is.. He will be remembered for the fighters he didnt fight.. not the ones he did.. The fighters that WOULD ahve made him GREAT win or lose..were avoided.. Especially from 140 onwards..
Coralles is now dead.. and we can speak of his legacy with nothing but hindsight.. In Hindsight he was a brawler who used his considerbale height advantge to beat on less endowed foes.. He was a warrior.. and extremely popular.. But that does not equate to greatness..
Floyd Mayweather has had a very good career.. and has a very good resume.. He not achived Greatness in either... Simply becaus ethe fights that could have made him great didnt happen.. Every great fighter is remembered for their great Fight.. and their Great adversary.. where are Floyds??
Floyd is lucky that he is still young enough to do something about it..Comment
