So even when the ring was taking shots at Floyd prior to his announcement of retirement and when DLH/Mayweather II were in negotiations, it still sounded a bit biased? How would that had benefited De La Hoya's legacy for the magazine that he owned to down play Floyd's place in history?

    • PBFs early career is shouted about as being really good. But his opponents are unheard of. His best oponent to date is Ricky hatton but he had all the home advantages.
So that takes away from the victory. DLH was old!
If PBF makes the top 50 he has done well for himself. PBF had great talent, but just not enough really great names in their prime on hisCV.

yea i'm not buying the whole ODLH ring controversy thing
The Ring magazine has not (to date) given me any reason to believe that their independent has been compromised.
Besides the board at Ring is comprised of a well rounded, eclectic, knowledgeable staff IMO
i'm just not buying it... not now

          • Sounds reasonable to me. We never saw his ass deal with adversity. Here is someone who would bet he would do well, but he just didnt do anything for us to check.

At the same time, I suspect I would find some laughable names in the top 25, unless they dug deep in oldtimers (Gans, Langford)

check where Bernard Hopkins has been ranked recently... other than that, I found no objection. As you say it's still a helluva team of writers.

Looking at that 19-42 range, the upper end just doesn't seem right given the talent pools of the past.

So our final declaration is this: if Mayweather never fights again, he ranks somewhere in the second 25 in boxing history, pound-for-pound, taking into account both his ability and his accomplishment. "Pretty Boy" and his devoted fans may not want be happy to hear it, and the Floyd haters probably won't like it either, but that's where he belongs.

Propaganda in order to lure the best in the sport back into the ring! GBP has many reasons to get him back into the ring! Time will tell if there will be another like him. Who under 135 all time would beat him? I don't know, its really a question!

I dont think ANY credible boxing source has Floyd in the top 25. Is it some sort of conspiracy??? Did all of the boxing organizations in the world come together, and agree to NOT put Floyd in thier top 25? He's not in the top 25 because he doesnt belong there. Plain and simple!

pretty much a bait piece to lure floyd out of retirment. the idiots don't understand floyd is concerned about a writer or a fans opinion of him that is all based on the individual's personal bias. floyd has done what only henry armstrong did and that is win titles in multiple weight classes while remaining undefeated...sugar ray, duran, hearns none of those guys could do what lil floyd did
