PBFs early career is shouted about as being really good. But his opponents are unheard of. His best oponent to date is Ricky hatton but he had all the home advantages.
So that takes away from the victory. DLH was old!
If PBF makes the top 50 he has done well for himself. PBF had great talent, but just not enough really great names in their prime on hisCV.

How would that had benefited De La Hoya's legacy for the magazine that he owned to down play Floyd's place in history?
The Ring magazine has not (to date) given me any reason to believe that their independent has been compromised.
Besides the board at Ring is comprised of a well rounded, eclectic, knowledgeable staff IMO
i'm just not buying it... not now

Sounds reasonable to me. We never saw his ass deal with adversity. Here is someone who would bet he would do well, but he just didnt do anything for us to check.
At the same time, I suspect I would find some laughable names in the top 25, unless they dug deep in oldtimers (Gans, Langford)

Originally posted by Trusted View PostWe can almost certainly agree that Mayweather doesn't belong in the top 10, hallowed ground reserved for names like Robinson, Armstrong, Ali, Louis, Pep, Greb, ect. And the opinion here is that for all his remarkable talent, his body of work isn't enough to crack the top 25 either. Looking at that 19-42 range, the upper end just doesn't seem right given the talent pools of the past.
So our final declaration is this: if Mayweather never fights again, he ranks somewhere in the second 25 in boxing history, pound-for-pound, taking into account both his ability and his accomplishment. "Pretty Boy" and his devoted fans may not want be happy to hear it, and the Floyd haters probably won't like it either, but that's where he belongs.
