Actually, Surgeon has a point there. Forget the timezones, we could fill an arena at any o'clock. You could have your PPV at 9pm US, and we would pack 30K+ in for the live event.

Makes a lot of sense to me.....

Thats what im sayin bud ****** o'Clock as in 2 am or some **** so it suits american tv. Like Hatton vs Tzsyu, which i attended and didnt give two ****s about the time.

And on another note some fights should just happen else where regardless of time zones, boxing dosent live and die with america, and sure the numbers would take a hit in america for a few fights but on the WORLD stage it would benifit boxing in the long run i think

        Get me?
        Yes. I do.

Also, hatton's fanbase has a bit (maybe more than a bit) of that "soccer houligan" mentality. They are boozing and rowdy. So, if you like a party atmosphere, that attracts you. The Urango fight was miserable to watch. they were still chanting and cheering and cursing.

Oscar is the most popular fighter stateside. his fans 9except 14 year old girls) are not rabid. They are more "silent spenders".

Ricky has more of the painted-face crew. The reality is that Floyd has NEVER been in a fight as bad as Hatton-Urango. That was Ruiz-esque.

What complicates that is broadcast rights.

HBO "owns" Floyd mayweather. When he fights , they do the broadcast and keep their money.

HBO doesn't have broadcast rights overseas. So when Floyd fights at Wembley, they have to get a UK broadcast partner, and thereby share the revenues.

That international business model is less attractive for them.

Showtime does much more of that because they are a second-place player anyway. HBO has 40 Mil homes and SHO only has about 15 mil.

Or Sin City your either a casual fan driven into the hype awaiting a very exciting fight. Not to see a certain fighter lose.

I'm not baiting. i'm using recent domestic examples based on fighters we both know.

Really. I could have just as easily used calzaghe, trinidad, etc.
