Jones would destroy Eubank, Been and Collins. Never mention their names and Jones Jr in the same sentence please.
21 year old Joe Calzaghe I suggest haters watch this!

They would have fought him of course but they were in much the same position as JC, defending a much lesser world title against easier competition than a Roy Jones jr, Benn must have come the closest in securing a fight with Jones, he had previously impressed U.S audiences and beaten Mclellan. Jones was the man pure and simple, H.B.O's golden boy, pound4pound number 1 covered in belts, you chase Roy Jones not the other way around and as much as i love Benn, Eubank and Collins they never did, would you?Comment

[QUOTE=_Ricky_;3911146]Calzaghe could punch, HARD. Look at his shoes, Roy Jones style lol.
take a look at any decent fighter on Boxerec and u will see a pattern developing where they have plenty of KO's inside 2/3 rounds and in most cases the Ko % gets less and less as they step up their competion
even moderate punchers can have lots of stoppages on their record in there early years as a pro mainly due to lack of calibre oponentComment

I think Kessler was his 'best' win, as I think he was the best opponent. Eubank, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins are all pretty much equally important to his career.
I think Calzaghe vs Jones prime for prime would have been an exceptional fight. Most give the edge to Jones based on his superior talent, I have no problem with that, but as a Calzaghe fan do find it hard to pick against Joe. If Calzaghe had been able to force a 'war' anything might have happened.
Eubank and Benn would definitely have gone 12 with Jones, on his day I think Benn might even have beaten him, he was an incredibly aggressive and tough fighter and if Jones' really was hiding a suspect chin then Benn would have been the man to find out. Collins was a little slow so might well have been outclassed and stopped by Jones, but he had an iron chin so going 12 is not unlikely. Remember, prime Jones was a safety-first fighter.Comment

Green-k for being a Calzaghe fan who can admit that prime 4 prime Jones would have been a bit much. Common opponent: Sugar Boy Malinga, beat Benn, got robbed v Eubank, ko'd by JonesI think Kessler was his 'best' win, as I think he was the best opponent. This is true, but it is also true that for virtually all of his career until recently Calzaghe was regarded as being exceptionally heavy handed. My view is that while he never posessed truly sick one-punch KO power, he was a prtty hard SMW hitter. Not many fighters do possess that kind of one shot pop, and fighters with decent chins tend not to get stopped.take a look at any decent fighter on Boxerec and u will see a pattern developing where they have plenty of KO's inside 2/3 rounds and in most cases the Ko % gets less and less as they step up their competion

common oponents mean jack in all fairness there are plenty of instances that proves that
Sosa gave Mayweather plenty of trouble whilst Cotto knocked him outComment
