People act like Hopkins is a shot, washed up, finished 43 year old.....THAT'S NOT THE CASE

Hopkins is still one of the top p4p fighters in the world at 43 years old

He was coming off wins over p4p fighters Winky and Tarver before he faced Calzaghe

You must admit he has slowed A LOT over the years. Even his win against winky looked ugly as ****. He looked gassed at the end of the calzaghe fight and there isn't a fight in his career that he was ever gassed. He always finished fights strong, which wasn't the case against calzaghe. He doesn't have the energy to be active in the late rounds. He aint knockin anyone out anymore, last time he did was 6 years ago.

I'm saying Calzaghe MD, Hopkins and Calzaghe were different fighters in there Primes. Hopkins whilst more active didn't clinch as much to offset a fighters rhythm etc. He was still a tricky fighter but he wasn't the master that he is now. Calzaghe didn't arm punch anywhere near as much, carried some power and actually worked behind a jab. Personally I think Hopkins was as gassed as he is because he tried to start the fight too fast and combined with having to keep up with Calzaghe workrate also gassed him out. Age was also a MASSIVE factor but it isn't as bad as most seem to think, in the Tarver fight he had no problem, it was a combination of age, Calzaghe's workrate and a fast start that wore him out.

Thats exactly right. A Calzaghe thats more closer to his prime and still in his prime in my opinion won a controversial split decision against a 43 year Hopkins that had no stamina and slowed reflexes, a younger Hopkins had the same smarts, threw a lot more punches and executed his game plan throughout becuase of his excellent conditioning. He would be too much for Calzaghe prime for prime especially since the younger Calzaghe was more relient on his power which would make it easier for Hopkins to figure him out.

Well, you did once state that Klitschko fought better fighters than Lewis and fought in a better era, which i found very odd becuase there so many hall of famers that Lewis beat and he beat everyone that he fought.

At the end of round 12, HOP would raise his hands and LAUGH just has he did in there fight except a PRIME HOP would have beat Joe by a UD....easy day for a young HOP

Calzaghe was much more or less in his Prime when he fought Hopkins, maybe a Bit over, but still Prime enough. Once you hit 40..its all downhill..

But Hopkins was 43, and not even at his natural weight. 43 is older than Foremans comeback.

Yep, I agree. Still though, 40+ year old versions of each fighter give Calzaghe problems. That says a lot about them.

It is tough to judge because it is a totally different fight if they are in their primes. Hopkins brings greater workload to the table and Joe brings a great deal more power. These variabilities make it a very difficult fight to call IMO.

If I had to choose an outcome I would say Bernard by a close decision. I would just give him the edge in relation to his ability to make Joe miss enough whilst scoring pretty effectively himself.
