What is this mysterious 'athletic ability', if it's not the performance of specific tasks.

It's a naive sports analyst who says "so and so is a great athlete." That category as it's often used is meaningless.

What does Taylor actually do better than Pavlik? Is he better at basketball or curling? Because he's clearly not as good at boxing.

In general the Mucky mucks used to watch the fights and they were whites. Whats changed? The whole landscape of the sport has. The black fighters suck and the white fighters that are beating them suck a little less. Still doesnt mean they are better athletes.

Best light-heavyweight ever was clearly Gene Tunney.

Best middleweight ever was Harry Greb.

Best p4p fighter of all time was Willie Pep.

Both Greb and Tunney can have arguments made for them in those respective divisions. P4p Pep falls behind Robinson, Armstrong, Langford, Greb and maybe a few others in my opinion.

Thats the reason why nobody watches boxing like they used to. The skill is gone and thats why whites are having there day. There is nothing wrong with that. Like I said before Blacks are still better athletes.
