Cotto-Margarito Tickets Not as Hot as Vegas Temps

You are missing it,the strategy in the choice of location was profit maximisation not just sales maximisation. They could have had it in New York but they would probably have had to reduce the costs of tickets a bit.
Boxing is just like any product, there are enough people to buy it but you have to persue the people.Cotto is an elite athlete who could be selling fights fast considering the way he fights. He has everything working for him apart from his business advisors. He ought to change people around him because he’s not getting rewarded for the risks he is taking. You cant say its not Cotto’s problem because it easy.Cotto choses who handles his business.Comment

The MGM put up the most money to have the fight. The Garden or Staples didn't bid as hard for this fight as much as Casinos in Vegas did. That's why the fight ended up being there. I think the PPV numbers will be high more than expected. That should make up for the lack of attendance.Comment

You cant leave all that to the promoter. The Cotto brand belongs to Cotto not Arum that’s why Cotto has to find ways of going mainstream. Some people like Floyd have worked hard to build it,doing Dancing with the stars and training for the fight at the same time shows how determined the guy was to build himself.
Some market penetration strategies will do for Cotto,he cant just depend on the Purto Ricoans to sell a fight, that’s limiting his own fanbase.Comment

If you make a good post or someone agrees with you they can give you positive or negative reputation with the "karma" button at the bottom of the post. People don't use it enough in my opinion! Go to your user cp it shows who gave it to you and why.Comment

My point is that considering all the external factors, such as climate/weather conditions in Vegas, the present oil crisis, the lack of a good fan base, the capacity of the fighters to converse in english that heavily adds to the promotion of the fight, all these rolled into one, will obviously affect the ticket sales!
That is why any boxing fights, considering all these factors rolled into one, whether your perceived to be popular or not, will obviously be affected in its ticket sales!
And Pacquiao, who was previously criticized for not being a draw, is just a victim of all these external factors! The Cotto-Margarito ticket sales is just one proof of this! Any popular fight that experience such external factors will suffer the same fate!Comment
