Most of us realists called this from the beginning. Margarito vs Cotto will be huge among us boxing fans, but the general public isn't too excited about this one. Replace Margarito with DLH or Floyd, and you'll have a huge fight.

My friends are bitching because I'm going to miss a party for this fight. They dont understand at all. It kind of pisses me off. I used the favorite football team in a playoff game analogy and they all said it wasnt the same.

I've stopped what I was doing at a casino and told my friends to leave me there and I'll find a ride home just to watch a fight. We where on our way to a car show and I saw that the sports bar was playing Margo vs. Cintron and my friends where like ****.. Vic's not getting up! I guarantee you he is gonna ask us to leave him.. sure enough.. lol

If sales for this gigantic fight are lukewarm, then it means only one thing, that boxing promoters need to learn how to promote again. That is, they need to learn how to promote without HBO or Showtime doing all the work for them so they can collect their percentage of their fighters' dollars with minimal work.

Like it or not, admit it or not, but organizations like the UFC remembered how to promote fights. Boxing promoters have forgotten how to promote. Which makes you wonder why they are getting paid in the first place.

That a fight of this magnitude, that could end up fight of the year, is not generating sales even in this economy...don't let boxing promoters blame it on the weather in Nevada.

I hope this fight does amazing business, because it deserves it. This is what boxing is all about, the best fighting the best.

I guess Mayweather was right about Cotto not being a big draw. If he beats Margarito though, and moves on to fight and beat Oscar, Cotto will get the exposure that Mayweather wants and hopefully that'll set up a Mayweather-Cotto fight in 09.

              Clearly, your friends suck.

My roommate watches one channel - ESPN, and knows about both Cotto and Margarito, but had no idea they were fighting weekend following next. Somebody needs to get on the ball with promoting this MF.

This is what Floyd has always been saying,Cotto needs to be a draw and learn how to sell fights. You might have a good product but if no one knows about it no one will buy it.I doubt team Cotto understand customer values that much.

What do you have to say about someone who says on his press conference ,’I don’t do much talking ,I will talk in the ring.’,Mr Cotto and his team need to up their game outside the ring.It sounds so very much unfair to other fighters who work their socks off outside the ring when people say Cotto is being avoided.Noone will avoid Cotto, the guy while he’s a good boxer is worth very little in monetary terms.Unfortunately boxing is a business and marketing has to be part of the strategy.

well put This is true, the only one to blame here is Bob Arum. If it's not selling the way is expected is simply because it's not being well promoted. Nothing more, nothing less

Should have been on the east coast!

This event should have been held on the east coast and i jave a strong feeling that the promotions are not being done to its full potential and thats a g-damn shame.
