    That old chestnut.

I reckon it was because Frank Warren didn't want to put his prize fighter in the line of fire. It wouldn't be the first time.

    Just my opinion.

Errr Calzaghe mentioned immediately after the Hopkins fight that he wanted Roy Jones. So Pavlik was never really on the agenda. Pavlik hasnt even sorted out business at 160, but he wants to call out the 175 champ for his final fight?

at Pavlik fans thinking beating Lockett scared Joe off!

I agree with you in principle about Warren. Ricky Hatton was promised so many big fights before he eventually had to threaten Warren for the Tszyu fight!

BUT Hopkins did blatantly duck Calzaghe after meeting with his people and agreeing terms. And Roy was never one for taking risks.

Frank Warren's contract offer to Roy Jones.

          * The fight needs to be in the UK.

          * British ref and judges.

          * You'll make bugger all, but you get to go sightseeing round London.

          * You'll be fighting a relatively unknown for a WBO belt

          * Oh, and did i forget to mention already, you won't get paid much.

          Your sincerely

          Frank Warren

Calzaghe has fought all over the world including America. So why would he ever reject an offer to fight Roy Jones for mega money in America?

Jones was all to happy to cater Clinton Woods' round trip to the States but Calzaghe never got the same offer.

Clinton woods would be happy with £200 and a holiday in Skegness to fight Jones, a fighter of Frank Warren is a different ball game.

I reckon Joe wanted the fight, i don't think Frank did IMO.

Going to America and losing to the best fighter on the planet wouldn't have been anywhere near career-suicide for Calzaghe. Just look at how popular Hatton still is. Warren would've still been able to take him home, take him back to 168 and milk him for every pound.

I dont think Roy was keen at all. Im still struggling to see how he didnt fight the list of guys I mentioned above.

Dirt Diggler UK...you make is blatantly obvious you know little to nothing about RJJ and haven't followed his career what so ever. Calzaghe, after he retires, will only have a little money left over from fighting RJJ, and a legion of brain dead fans like yourself. The boxing community will quickly forget about him. He has done very little in his career and his resume means nothing when compared to Hopkins, Jones, Toney, etc, et all, goodnight.

Where have I made it obvious that I know nothing about Jones? He was one of my favourite fighters in the 90s. Keep your knickers on. I was just disappointed that he wasnt willing to take risks most of the time.

Pretty sure Calzaghe is already a multi millionaire, dont you worry your little head.
