David Haye vs. Oleg Maskaev on BoxRec now

I see BoxRec has David Haye scheduled to fight Oleg Maskaev. I realize BoxRec isn't perfect, but it is reliable most of the time...

Haye is a coward for choosing an old shot fighter. Oleg is in his 40th year, has fought only once in the past two years, and has had serious back injuries. He looked very old and slow against Peter.

He isn't fast enough to have a chance of evading Haye's punches. Haye said he wanted to face a top 10 heavyweight - I don't care what the ratings say, Maskaev isn't top 50 anymore.

Didn’t Calzaghe fight a 43 year old man?

Hopkins wasn't a shot fighter. He's like a 35 year old, perfectly fit and healthy. And he was the Champion at Light Middleweight. Old Oleg has no titles, and hasn't won a fight since 2006!

Calzaghe is older and slowing down himself, but Haye is in his late 20s, at his peak!

Maskaev, who's been in with a lot of punchers, looked to be age 60 in his fight with Peter. He became inactive in 2007 because of serious back injuries.

        What's all this "coward" stuff?

Give the guy a chance, it's only his first fight... this guy was WBC champ only one fight ago. (Although I agree, it's potentially a mismatch).

He is really struggling to get a fight sorted, Maskaev vs Haye is clearly a mismatch but at least he gets Haye a fight and he can then move on to the bigger things in the division.

He said he was going to fight a top ten heavyweight.

Neither BoxRec and IBO, which go by computerized objective rankings, have Maskaev in their top ten.

Maskeav's has a bad back, he's old and slow. Haye is in his 20s. He's a coward for fighting an shot old boxer.

I don't trust boxrec for this stuff but I actually said Maskaev should be his first opponent at heavyweight because he's past his best but is experienced enough to give Haye some lessons about the heavyweight division while making Haye look good and Maskaev is relatively well known for a heavyweight since he beat Rahman and just lost to Peter.
